Maybe she doesn't like their voices or the recording style or something. I don't know, it's not that hard to believe.

I'm aware that people dislike the Beatles, that's not what this is about. I specifically asked her what she disliked, and what I find issue with is that she hadn't given enough thought to the subject to form an opinion on what specifically she dislikes about their music when they play it. She couldn't explain it, it was an instance of someone saying "I dislike artist X and that's that".

What made it a stupid musical statement that I couldn't fathom is that she actually does like their songs but couldn't explain why she does NOT like the band.

You said in your original post that she only likes the songs when performed by other people, so I assumed she didn't like their voices or the way they played the songs.

"I don't know why you keep going on about needing better headphones. Headphones are bad for your hearing; the music sounds the same as from speakers, only louder."

I think I died inside.

Get her a tin can with a string, then see how she feels about head phones.

Bad headphones are often worse for your ears than good headphones.

And to prove her wrong: let her listen to a set of speakers really quietly and then a set of headphones on the same volume. Solved.
