Alright, downwardspiral, after several listens I'm ready to put my thoughts down about your Sonic Youth mix...

In short: I dug it. It wasn't nearly as noisy or experimental as I was expecting but it was very interesting to listen to music that so obviously established the template for so many indie rock bands. "Drunken Butterfly" was far and away my favorite track. I love the energy and wildness in that song and only wish there were more tracks like it on the mix.

Great pick, Janszoon. That's the track that really got me into the band.

I just got this the other day and it really reminded of some heavier Sabbathesque riffs with some harsher vocals. I know you like vocals like Pig Destroyer and whatnot (not that this is that similar) so hey I figure ill send it your way. Also you turned me on to Colour Haze which is easily my favorite modern stoner band so I owe you at least a little.

so this is a rock band which features members of both Whitehouse and Sutcliffe Jungend....this album is more of a concept album and all the songs on it are about Jack The Ripper.....enjoy

You seemed to doubt sending this in the PM you sent me, but I promised to give it a fair shot (probably because I didn't care for Asceticists 2006), but the result is exactly why I don't rule anything out. I really enjoyed this. I'm glad you mentioned what you did about Jack the Ripper, because knowing the basis of the album really gave depth to my listening. It trembled with controlled rage, sometimes exploding into fits of violence, but at the same time, the occasional flair of cello introduced something almost sympathetic, almost human to it. I thought this was a great, interesting portrayal of its subject. Thank you!

Aha, so that's where they're hiding. I think the album as a whole is kinda hard to swallow, but when I choose individual tracks to play I end up liking them a lot more. Personally, I would cut this album in half and it would make it perfect. Well for me at least, as an Autechre n00b.

I think many of their albums could be cut in half and be more enjoyable (or to 2/3), but especially this one. It's just so fragmented it seems to go on forever. Their EPs are great for this reason. Except for the one that came out after Quaristice.Quadrange.ep.ae.

i think you may like the music and i pretty sure you'll like the politics and general idea in the lyrics....enjoy

Thankies, I haven't listened to Dystopia in a while, but I do know them :)

in all honesty i thought you may have....but i did not see them on your last.fm (which really means very little) but i wanted to share that album in particular and figured if you had not heard them you may enjoy.....either way enjoy....it's a classic in my opinion

Ok, I'm a 100% Jazz noob so if anyone wants to send me a good album for a beginner, that would be sweet.
