Default music in nightclubs

Thought Id start with a Bill Hicks quote

"guys dont dance they sit in the corner and drink and curse"

Just to ask how many people only go to clubs that play their kind of music, perfectly understandable, and how many of you are willing to go to a club where youre not into the music but you can enjoy yourself anyway?.

I'm asking because I know some people who are so fussy about music in clubs and can spend their nights going from one place to another just. because they dont like the tunes much, what a waste.

Now my perfect club would play a mix of funky jazz and disco, instead I have to make do with dubstep and drum n bass because thats pretty much all my friends listen to. I still have some brilliant nights and it is good to hear something different. Anyone in the same dilemma as me?

I'd be interested to hear any thoughts on music and clubbing.

There's 3 nightclubs in my town and they all play nothing but chart ****e. One of them used to have a rock, indie and alternative night on the first wednesday of each month but they stopped that.

I don't even know why I go to nightclubs half the time, it just seems like a good idea at midnight when you've had a few drinks and you want to continue drinking and go on the pull. I spend most of the time in a nightclub in the smoking area not giving a **** about what music is playing but I do venture onto the dancefloor occasionally with a few friends and we go after women.

I live in a university town so it's nothing but top 40 and dubstep. The only reason I ever go to clubs is for girls. I honestly hate the whole scene. I much prefer pubs/bars.

dubstep has taken over your area as well?

ick.

95% of dubstep that is DJ'd in clubs is awful.

I dont really care whats being played, once I've had a drink or 5 I'll wipe my feet on the rhythm rug to pretty much anything.

Barring Mint Lounge down the road in Manchester, there are pretty much no clubs around here that play my kinda music. Doesn't bother me in the slightest though - I'm usually too busy talking to randoms, drinking or whatever else to notice it.

Im not a big club scene kind of guy....usually they are tossing me out before I figure out whats even playing. However I do freqent a couple bars that have their own jukebox to let you pick what ya want to hear. I usually last a lil longer in those type places.

I have no problem with club music being ****ty. You're supposed to dance to it, not enjoy listening to it.

It's the fact that people are buying club music for home listening that bothers me. However, complaining about the disco music in the disco is like saying you're pissed off they're not playing heavy metal on a carnival ride, or that you don't like the soft piano music that play during sad points in movies rather wanting them to play something more upbeat.

Terence Hill, as recently confirmed during an interview to an Italian TV talk-show, was offered the role but rejected it because he considered it "too violent". Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta declined the role for the same reason. When Al Pacino was considered for the role of John Rambo, he turned it down when his request that Rambo be more of a madman was rejected.

I go to nightclubs once in a blue moon, but generally I target anything electronic. So heavy house music or drum and bass clubs are for me.
