s_k, you don't like women in bands either? So female instrumentalists are out?

I'm not sure I like this question. I'm no radical feminist, but it's a bit demeaning, no? Not just to women but to musicians? To imply that something like gender influences talent? I agree with you, Burning Down. Do people just discredit bands that have female musicians?

Yes, probably they do. Unfortunately. I only discredit bands that don't have any talent

This bothers me. Beyond female, and male. Isn't a tad foolish, and close minded to lock yourself into a set ranges of timbre?

Terence Hill, as recently confirmed during an interview to an Italian TV talk-show, was offered the role but rejected it because he considered it "too violent". Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta declined the role for the same reason. When Al Pacino was considered for the role of John Rambo, he turned it down when his request that Rambo be more of a madman was rejected.
Al Pacino = God

I like women in bands/as singers. They are just as capable as men and it is sexist to think otherwise. I do not really get the point in this thread or poll if I am being honest.

I think it's because s_k was in another thread saying that he hates all female vocals except for apparently No Doubt and Janis Joplin or some similar foolishness. I don't know.

If he wants to generalize, that's his issue.

I agree it does come off that way. Maybe the question should be do you dislike women in rock? In all fairness, men really have dominated that scene. However, females seem to dominate pop and both men and women seem to get fair treatment in maybe soul.

The music must be good as a whole, just like with anyone else. Florence Welch has a great voice, but her music is boring as fuck because she uses it in the same manner in every song, and the songwriting just isn't up to par. Beach House on the other hand, are fantastic musically as well.

I think the fact that few women are respected in music comes down to the fact that fewer women take part in music as a whole. Naturally, as with anything, there are more poor artists than great ones, but for some reason instead of looking at these figures and considering the sample size, people perceive women as having little musical talent.
