Default Concept Album/Rock Opera explanation thread

Here is a thread where we can discuss, ask about, and attempt to explain concept albums.

So, I'm not going to start this thread off by explaining an album, but I am going to request an explanation for the world and general story of Coheed & Cambria's albums if anyone is willing to take on the ambitious task of explaining it.

The best rock operas are the Residents:

Not Available
God in Three Persons
The Mole Show
Animal Lover

All ingenious, brilliant works of music.

I also like Quadraphenia, and even Tommy as cheesy as it is.

Terence Hill, as recently confirmed during an interview to an Italian TV talk-show, was offered the role but rejected it because he considered it "too violent". Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta declined the role for the same reason. When Al Pacino was considered for the role of John Rambo, he turned it down when his request that Rambo be more of a madman was rejected.
Al Pacino = God
