The Holy Bible is great, and I say this as a very passionate hater of all things Nicky Wire.

All the early Manics albums were good. But after Richey dissappeared they should have called it a day.

I tried to get into 'The Holy Bible'. Can't understand what all the fuss is about personally.

It's all about perspective.

You see a band who were previously no better than a guns n roses / clash tribute band suddenly come up with something dark & gloomy Joy Division-esque years before it was common to rip them off in the middle of a time when everybody was trying to make cheeky ****ney pop music you probably would sit up & take notice of them.

I've determined I'm the only person who will ever list this as the best Pink Floyd album. The whole head-stuck-in-a-vacuum effect the album has is absolutely hypnotic, and the live disc is wonderful.

Also, I like Local H but Ham Fisted is a pretty boring album. The whole thing seems dull and poorly written compared to the stuff they'd later come out with. I'd even go as far as to say its one of the worst debut albums a grunge inspired radio friendly alt-rock band has ever released.

****, and here was me thinking that their debut was As Good As Dead (which is a fantastic record).
