Do they change their sound? I didn't actually believe they were classed as prog rock, until I checked Wiki... (Wiki answers all.)

Their self title seemed like it was a good old fashioned plug in and play album. Do their other albums go more typical proggy?

Their first album isn't very prog at all, it's very straight-forward as you said. Bands gotta start somewhere. The only song I like on that album is 'Working Man'. I don't hate the rest, just don't really like it.

Exactly! I like plug in and play more than I like experimental prog rock, so that's why I don't think I'd like their albums if they got more typical experimental prog rocky on me.. I assumed that's what path they'd take after listening to their S/T, so I never bothered with their other albums..

They are one of my favorite bands, so I of course recommend you check them out further. Their debut is one of their weakest albums. Check out Moving Pictures...that's the one people usually start with. That album is also the point where they kind of get rid of most of what made them prog in the late 70's.

Interestingly enough, I went to Moving Pictures on Spotify just before I read that! It's a sign. I doubt I'll ever really like a prog rock band, but I'll definitely give Rush a chance.

Yeah Moving Pictures and Permanent Waves are probably the albums for you.

2112 is one of the best a-sides ever, but the album itself is weak in spots
