They were around from 1976-88

Their first few albums were your typical new wave stuff although to be fair they pretty much created that sound. In later albums they expanded & by the mid 80s were throwing all sorts of world music influences into their stuff. I`m not that keen on their later stuff myself but i`d say their first 4 or 5 albums are pretty much essential.

yeah I'll agree with UH's comment about the earlier stuff. They were a bunch of art student types, split in early 1990s but hadn't released anything all together since 1988. Songs about Buildings and Food and some other early stuff is essential listening, Remain in Light is their most talked about album ever. A couple of them done side projects that you might be interested in, look out for an album by 'The Heads', and some other stuff.

Psycho Killer is my favorite song by them, I also liked the cover of Al Green's "Take me to the river"

That was one of their later albums & was a soundtrack to a film made by the band.
It`s not awful but i`d put most of the others above it

Top stuff! A Talking Heads thread.
So Misfits, did you follow up any of the above recommendations?
All of which are spot on by the way.
Talking Heads are easily one of my favourite bands. 'Psycho Killer' being my favourite, the acoustic version from the live album, 'Stop Making Sense' is miles better than the studio release.
The album 'Blind' has some brilliant tunes with some superb guitar work from Johnny Marr (feat.)
