Paedantic Basterd 07-05-2011 06:38 PM

Hahaha, the bottom 10.

Good work, interesting list. Should probably take note of what I don't have there.

TockTockTock 07-05-2011 07:12 PM

It's just an okay list in my opinion. Nothing too surprising.

FaSho 07-05-2011 07:40 PM

I think there were a few surprises. Belle & Seb in the top 20 for example. I thought I was one of few here that really liked them, and even I wouldn't put that album in my top 20.

duga 07-05-2011 07:49 PM

I regularly listen to 64/100 of those albums...time to get crackin on the last 36....

NSW 07-05-2011 07:56 PM

Awesome list...how'd you go about putting that together?

I was actually kind of surprised to see Muse in the bottom 10. I was under the impression alot of people here liked them.

Well, even to Muse fans, the Resistance was a load of crap.

 Fair enough!

I think I have about only 15 albums out of 100. Probably means y'all listen to much, much better music than I do.

Necromancer 07-05-2011 09:37 PM

I have 25 to 30 on the list, there's a Radiohead album listed every other 5. It sounds fixed to me! I just dont see that many (5) different Radiohead albums in the top 100. But, I have to hold into consideration that this is an MB poll, so..

METALLICA_RULES 07-05-2011 11:58 PM

No Metallica? Damn!

Nah jks, great list. I wouldn't have Hybrid Theory and Meteora in the bottom 10 though. Those two are Linkin park's best albums.

Chrysalis 07-06-2011 12:41 AM

Damn, I've only listened to 16. I need to download more often. :/

And I'm not an Eagles fan, but I'm suprised to see them in the Bottom 10.

Mrd00d 07-06-2011 12:42 AM

They're in the bottom ten because they are Linkin Park

Mrd00d 07-06-2011 12:46 AM

Well, I regularly listen to 45 or so of these albums, usually on shuffle. Got a 5 and 4.5 star radio setup on my Mediamonkey and these albums mostly consist of just that.

Laurent Quinn Proper 07-06-2011 02:41 AM

Godspeed You! Black Emperor reppin'.

A

#1's surprising! It's got some pretty ave. stuff on it admitedly alongside some pretty sublime stuff.

Howard the Duck 07-06-2011 05:25 AM

have most of the albums except for about five or six

really surprised that Mezzanine is so high on the list

i love that

FaSho 07-06-2011 10:39 AM

the album rated highest that I don't have is Hot Rats, so I'll download it right now.

Also, anyone else surprised to see American Football on there at all? Or that a rap album (ATCQ) is so high?

Also, no question the Beatles would be on top, but Abbey Road? Seriously?

Chrysalis 07-06-2011 11:19 AM

I'm more suprised that Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band got on here. It's not that high on the list, but don't most people view it as being massively overrated?

Actually, I did find that surprising. I was also a bit surprised at Comus' debut being on there (it should be higher dammit). T. Rex was also a bit of a surprise...

Wtf? I'm pissed, this album is not bottom 10 material.

CanwllCorfe 07-08-2011 04:29 PM

I have 3 of those 100.

Hey, Abbey Road is awesome. Don't be hatin'.

Anyway, I'll have to be downloading a buncha those here in the near future. I'm missing waaaaay too many.

Metal Connoisseur 07-09-2011 05:21 PM

17. At least I'm not a complete neanderthal (sarcasm). I was overjoyed to see Atreyu in the bottom. I've had the displeasure of seeing them live and I have nothing good to say about a band that tries to pass that off as metal

jackhammer 07-09-2011 06:13 PM

I have 76 of those and all of the top ten. Not sure whether that is a good thing. Why on earth Megadeth's Rust In Peace is in there when Peace Sells is far superior is beyond me and Belle and Sebastian? Shocking. I frigging hate 'Twee' music with a passion. A serious lack of Reagge and soul too :(

Awesome to see Mezzanine so high though :)

I'm not that surprised about American Football, I found out about them through this forum.

SGR 03-17-2014 09:44 PM

I'm incredibly happy that the Manic Street Preachers made number 18! I'm kinda surprised actually, thought I was one of the few here who adore 'The Holy Bible'. I own 58 of these albums. I've got some work to do.

there's no way the Blue album is above Pinkerton. That's the most ridiculous element of this list.
Obviously not entirely to my taste and an old original thread, but not too bad a top 100 list. I like many albums on this list.

Any chance we can do another list? Like an updated version, same RYM format, with the new members and the new ratings/reflections.
Would be interesting.

James 03-18-2014 07:17 AM

A new list would be really interesting, it'd be nice to see how much music taste has changed around here over the years.

I'm totally up for that. By the way, is there some sort of "MB group" on RYM?

Agreed, I'd be interested if my presence here has landed any Ditty Bops albums to the list.

Probably not, I don't do RYM

Nice to see another Manics fan on here, Mojo is the only other person I'm aware of who is into them!

Goofle 03-18-2014 01:26 PM

They are okay.

James 03-18-2014 02:45 PM

They were okay once.

I think they are still OK. Lifeblood, Journal for Plague Lovers and Rewind the Film are all albums released in the last ten years that I like. They are no more than OK now though, whereas their early years were when they were more than that.

The Holy Bible is actually a pretty popular record on this board.

I was being slightly facetious. The Holy Bible is really good and Lifeblood is good too but yeah - not the band they once were or even close to it.

14232949 04-28-2014 09:07 PM

is there a Music Banter group on RYM?
