it is not tragic. Lennon = tragedy, Dimebag = tragedy... Winehouse = casualty.

If you smoke crack, shoot smack and drink and smoke all the time and exhaust yourself on the road and neglect every aspect of your own health and well being it is going to catch up to you.. that is not a tragedy, that is the reality of it. You are bound to die if you live that self-destructive life.

People are throwing out the word tragic so much now it has lost its meaning.

You have a very weird definition of tragedy. A tragedy, in the dramatic sense, is "a medieval narrative poem or tale typically describing the downfall of a great man". I would say Amy Winehouse's life story could very easily be described as a modern tragedy.

I think she was just an average man.

I don't see how you separate the two, (tragedy and casualty) Lennon and Dimebag were both casualties of deranged fans with hand guns. If you have some sympathy for Amy Winehouse or even her friends and family - then you would see it as a tragedy.

I seperate them cause a tragedy is when somebody dies no fault of their own. Lennon and Dimebag I seperated cause they died of unforseen forced, they had no idea they were going to get killed by psychotics... Winehouse though was a casualty of her own problems.. she did not walk out of her apartment and get shot by some psychotic madman.

That is the seperation.

That's actually the opposite of the primary definition of tragedy. Traditionally, a tragedy is a story where the protagonist comes to ruin as a result of their personal flaws.

Ever heard of a tragic flaw?
