Yeh we even watched Harold and Kumar go to White Castle in that class.

But anyway I'm really excited about this new EP, they havent released one since Parachutes.

Dr. Yellow Black 11-06-2008 06:51 PM

Sweet I know it will be good. In one of my classes we watched Glory. That cool civil war movie...

dac 11-10-2008 02:40 PM

Could someone send me the song "Spies" off of Parachutes?

I was listening to Parachutes today and realized it's completely missing off of my computer

turboduck17 11-11-2008 08:42 PM

just to voice my opinion out here, i think many of coldplays songs sound the same. does anyone agree or am i the only one?

sweet_nothing 11-13-2008 03:56 PM

New version of Lost featuring Jay Z

here's another one but features an interview with chris on radio1, where he raps!

gotjuice 11-13-2008 04:57 PM

Some music should just not be rapped too. Of course, it doesn't help that I hate Jay-Z. His voice is just so annoying.

Thumbs down for me.

Yes I was rather disappointed when it skipped from Shiver to Sparks :(

Astronomer 11-23-2008 07:36 PM

Coldplay are touring Aus in March and I have a chance to get presale tickets. I'm not a huge fan but I do enjoy a few of their albums/ songs. To go or not to go? Have many people seen them live?

dac 11-23-2008 08:27 PM

Well if I remember correctly you were willing to pay a rather large sum to see some bands at a festival that were probably much worse in your eyes. So I'd recommend it by those standards alone. Also a few of my close friends saw them and said that they put on an amazing show.

Yeah but festivals are more fun than stadium shows 'cause you can hang out with your mates in the sun and get drunk :D

I'm still undecided... I'll have to have a think about it.

sweet_nothing 11-23-2008 09:07 PM

I saw them last week and I had a really good time, I loved the butterfly shaped confetti, and Will's solo song. But it seemed alot smaller than I thought It would be, like I thought the stage would be huge when it really wasnt making the show more intimate. But I have to say I didnt like the techno version of God Put A Smile Upon Your face, but other than that it was my favourite show ever.

Parachutes>X & Y>Viva la Vida>A Rush Of Blood To The Head

dac 11-24-2008 07:58 AM

Parachutes > Rush of Blood > X&Y > Viva La Vida

Sunny 11-24-2008 08:30 AM

Fav Coldplay songs are definitely
A Message, In My Place, A Rush Of Blood To The Head and I'm really liking Lost from their newly released album "Viva La Vida" even though I'm not such a fan of the other songs on it.

Thoughts on Prospekt's March?

Akira 11-24-2008 12:25 PM

My ticket came today and it says 'plus special guests' anyone know who it is?

If it's Gwynyth i'll be very upset, lol.

15Steps 11-24-2008 05:19 PM

parachutes was a legitimately great album, save the two last tracks.

I try and explain that to people and they just dismiss it. Coldplay has built up enough of a bad reputation to some that that album gets overlooked.

FaSho 11-25-2008 06:46 AM

Rush of Blood and viva La Vida are OKAY, everything else I've heard is terrible, so my opinion on Coldplay is currently mixed.

Tyler Durden 11-25-2008 10:08 AM

Anyone hear Prospeckt's March yet?

adidasss 11-25-2008 11:15 AM

I have. It's alright. I thought Life in technicolor II could have been better, the alternative version of Lost is just Jay-Z doing his same old tired shit, I haven't noticed any difference in the Lovers in Japan (Osaka sun mix). Glass of water is pretty sweet though. I'll give it a few more listens...

You think Viva is ok and Parachutes is terrible? I must say that is a very interesting choice.

FaSho 11-25-2008 11:22 AM

I'm downloading Parachutes right now, it's their only album I haven't heard. Is it really that good?

But they aren't, thats the whole thing. No matter how crap they are or seem, they don't take themselves seriously.

PrivateJoker 11-25-2008 12:16 PM

in my opinion, parachutes was their best release.

Easily their best. While it doesn't have the singles of Rush of Blood, it functions as an album very well, especially the first half.

Same here it sounds like the exact same on Viva La Vida. But I though Life in Technicolor II was great, and I loved how on Rainy Day it sounds like Chris is singing underwater. Post Cards From Far Away sounds great though I wish it was longer.

My fav new songs in order

Life in Technicolor II
Glass of Water
Postcards from Far Away
Rainy Day
Prospekt's March / Poppyfields
Now My Feet Won't Touch the Ground

Anybody get the Ep off itunes? It comes with a different video version to Viva La Vida.

gotjuice 11-27-2008 10:57 PM

Parachutes and Rush of Blood are both incredible albums, but I have to give a slight nod to Rush of Blood. There really isn't a weak song on Rush of Blood, whereas Parachutes fades IMO with We Never Change and Everything's Not Lost.

lolliot 11-28-2008 11:00 PM

Agree with gotjuice, A Rush of Blood snatches it in the end for me as well. I don't think there's a single song on that album that I haven't been obsessed with at one point, which is unfortunately more than I can say about X & Y and Viva. These days I rather spin the first Parachutes and A Rush of Blood before I put on one of the last two records.

Their newer songs are much better live than on the record though. That pretty much goes for everything on Viva.

Mojo 12-08-2008 07:52 AM

I love Rush of Blood. In my opinion it's not just their best, its head and shoulders above. I haven't heard their new one yet though I will admit. I wasnt a fan of Parachutes and X&Y was alright.

dac 12-08-2008 09:02 AM

After giving Viva la Vida another listen, I'll admit it's better than X&Y, but that's as far as it'll go.

sweet_nothing 12-08-2008 02:50 PM

Ive started to enjoy Viva more than Parachutes so my new album order......
A Rush of Blood to the Head
Viva la Vida
Parachutes
X&Y

dac 12-08-2008 03:09 PM

Parachutes
A Rush of Blood to the Head
Viva
X&Y

Joe Satriani is suing Coldplay over copyright infringement of his song "If I Could Fly", in their song "Viva La Vida".

There's no way it's true, because if it was, that would mean Coldplay listened to Satch :D

Did someone already post this? I'll check now.

EDIT: I'd kind of think there was some discussion to be had about it... as in, do you think Satch has a case or not?

He has a case but the fact that COLDPLAY was able to take his song and make it better means he should probably go hide in a corner and never make music again. I like Coldplay, don't get me wrong, but if you're considered a 'virtuoso' then Coldplay-level bands shouldn't be able to do that.

Sigh... he didn't write the song because it was so hard that no one else can play it, that's obvious. He wrote it because it's a GOOD song idea. The fact that Coldplay are able to do it makes them cover artists, not good musicians.

I don't think Satch has a case, because even if it's a good and catchy melody, it's rather simple. I can see a lot of artists coming up with it independently.
