I think on X & Y they were trying to be progressive but failed, so they went a different route on Viva and are going the right way they were trying to go before, just on a different road.

It's obviously a personal choice but I find that I have to be in a certain mood to listen to Coldplay. Though their newer stuff Viva La Vida and then the Prospekts March EP seems more upbeat and is more stuff you can listen to whenever.

I just like the wayViva La Vida sounds like it has so many more shades of color and contrast than previous occasionally dry sounding Coldplay albums... its a step forward in terms of less formal, more asymetrical songs than previous albums... it dares to be a little more adventurous than previous efforts, too, wqhich I can only praise, really...

Well if they are having a break thats not bad thing... they probably need to recharge their batteries a little...

If their music is elevator music, then I gotta say, I have to start working in high rises... I enjoy their stuff muchly... cut me down if you wish, but I just like it...
