boring technicality which are complex just for complexity's sakes, no emotion, horrible keyboard tunes, lifts from supposedly "classic" prog bands whilst not being able to write as interesting melodies

The Beatles- Horrible vocals, cheesy lyrics, average drumming
Led Zeppelin- Sloppy guitar playing, screeching vocals, plagiarism
Black Sabbath- Repetitive, juvenile lyrics
Metallica- Emotionless, unimpressive vocals
Jimi Hendrix- Sloppy, soulless
AC/DC- Radio music...all the time

There are other bands and other artists who have many weaknesses. The above bands happen to be some of my favorite. Their music really isn't as bad as you are making it out to be.

Are these bands better than Dream Theater?:

Brokencyde
My Chemical Romance
Coldplay
Blink 182
Nickelback
Limp Bizkit

Because those bands have much worse things going on than Dream Theater.

those bands you listed are pretty bad, but MCR and Limp Bizkit had one or two good albums, but i feel they're fairly harmless

with Dream Theater, i can't really stand their pretentiousness, and the accolades lauded upon them by guitar mags and such - i got into them merely cos of Guitar World

i have to concede i somewhat like Pull Me Under, that's about the only song i can stand from them

How are they pretentious? The Beatles have been given more praise than any other band/artist in history. They've been given praise that is sometimes ludicrous. Even though it does annoy me in no way does it stop me from enjoying their music.

Everyone has their opinions though.

I`m sure you just post to rile people up. You think the Beatles have horrible vocals! Led Zeppelin sloppy guitar playing! Black Sabbath are juvenile! Jimi Hendrix sloppy and soulless! and AC/DC are a radio friendly band!

This anti Beatles fixation of yours has now become ridiculous, you state they are one of your favourite bands............yet we know you hate their lyrics, now add to this their horrible vocals and the average drumming, what do you actually like about them? Perhaps their guitar playing, haircuts and black suits?

Also if you`re fan of Dream Theater and wanna fight in their corner, and least pick some better bands than the six you chose, because those bands have a rep as being very bad and doesn`t say much about DT at all.

Those are actually some of my favorite bands (not Jimi). The point is that they were great but also had weaknesses.


I like the Beatles melodies and fluid albums.

It's funny that you reply to me for criticizing those bands but when someone calls Dream Theater one of the worst bands of all time I'm the only one to defend them. The point of picking those six bands was to show that Dream Theater is not close to being one of the worst bands of all time.

I have no personal feelings for any artist/band. It's not hard for me to see their flaws and accept them.
