I'd probably cry.
But as far as I know, people who have a common sense when it comes to music, realise that what most people like, isn't good music most of the time... It's easy music.

Likewise.
Although, I go out far less than I used to.

A caveat to that is locations I used to go to specifically for the music. There's this bar/club I used to frequent specifically for the electronic music, and when Brostep started getting huge, that's all they would play, and I can no longer go there because it's wayyyyy too annoying.

I just can't have an enjoyable social experience over the incessantly loud and repetitive noise of pissed off transformers stomping robotic cats and other wildlife in absolutely every song. It's far too distracting.

I don't see your analogy, but to answer your question. I eat what I get... because I'm homeless and pretty poor. I ate cabbage rolls and squash cakes at the homeless diner for dinner last night. And I ate every scrap on my plate. Even the soggy, stale tortilla chips. Try a different analogy and maybe I'd understand how it pertains to what we're talking about. Bring it back to food analogy:
I mean, if I had steak waiting on the barbecue and they're like, here, eat vegetables... I'll probably take a bite or two and try to go outside and get my steak on asap. If I'm at a bar or friend's house w/ g/f and they're playing **** music and I know I got dibs on picking a song on the jukebox or her computer soon after, I'll just step outside for a cig or something. If I am a central part of the discussion or something, I'll grit my teeth and hum "John the Fisherman" by Primus under my breath to break the pop music's voodoo spells/brainwashing.

If the place I'm trying to enjoy myself at is going to be playing similar music for a long time, I usually pack up for greener pastures or make a permanent squat in the smoking section and pray I have headphones. I understand for a lot of folks, mostly women age 16-30, really enjoy hearing the current hits on the radio when they're drinking. And they'll proceed to get sloppy drunk and dance like whores all night. For me, I might as well stay sober because even ****faced hammered it's a buzzkill for me to hear radio singles or most of what the mainstream finds acceptable. There are tons of songs that are party worthy and still enjoyable for me, but most just ride the top40 express their whole lives.

I'm the kind of guy that put 5 bucks in the jukebox and played A) Octavarium by Dream Theater for 27 minutes, B) Miles Davis Bitches Brew (they only include 4 tracks but they're long), and then seal the deal with some Aesop Rock None Shall Pass / Pigs (10 Minutes). I know how to make my jukebox money last and it usually makes all those annoying yuppies leave for a different bar. Bartenders that pay attention skip my songs when they realize what I'm doing. But then I ask them for a refund for my unplayed songs ;D You should hear the groans when Miles Davis comes on and goes for 5-10 mins... and then another one comes on. UghhgHhhH I hear from inside, and me and my friend are out on the patio listening and laughing our asses off at their reactions. I should say not everyone gets mad when I do this. I AM talking about a sleezy dive bar. Damn yuppies know damn well where the rich people bar is.

I live in a different city now, and I had the best experience drinking out in my whole life two nights ago. The bartenders played Blockhead all night. For the whole 2 hours I was there. And everyone was happy. Especially me, as I'm rocking out on the patio drumming on the picnic table, swiggin beer, and a cute young woman comes and sits with me and we talk music for an hour. Ahh, I like Eugene, Oregon.

Reminds me, me and my friend and some people we met on the road are staying in the Walmart parking lot and this 17 year old comes over to hang out, and we're all 24-34 but whatever right. And we're talking music, particularly non mainstream hip hop. We all have Rhymesayers and Def Jux in common at least. And he's nodding his head with the conversation and when it goes quiet, he says, totally seriously, "You guys like Usher" and we just stared at him and all started cracking jokes. Poor kid. My buddy says "At which movie theater" and one of the other guys cracked wise too, and I just said "No...." It was very akward for him, he was trying to fit in or join the discussion but didn't know anything but radio music. And we honestly don't listen to that ever. So it was kind of a shock to him to meet people that had no idea/no interest in such a well known artist. For the record, I can't name one Usher song but I remember his name as far back as the 90s...

There are some finnish artists that are really famous here and I can't stand them at all. For example Petri Nygård is insanely popular here.



His music is "humour-rap" about drinking and sex. The music and lyrics are so retarded. It irritates me quite alot if I have to hear this ****. My little brother is currently working in a preschool and comprehensive school and even the little kids there sing these songs that deal with sex and drinking.

Other than that a thing that annoyes me alot is Finnish patriotism. When Finland won the Ice Hockey World Championships earlier this year this song was being played everywhere. It annoyed me since the song is irritating and all the patriotic idiots were singing it and talking down on sweden for loosing in the final.



Other mainstream stuff like Lady Gaga, Rihanna etc. don't annoy me that much and I occasionally even enjoy some mainstream hits. It seems to be just these finnish mainstream hits that drunken patriotic idiots sing that I can't stand and make me want to leave the place immediately if I hear the songs.
