Likewise, it's the reason I own some Anal Cunt but no Whitney Houston.

I liked the idea so much I made a thread on it...
Consider it bumped

This thread did sort of make me realize that I have a lot of albums I've purchased and have heard only once. So I decided I'd listen to each of these purchases 10 times over consecutive days to try and figure out why the hell I bought them to begin with.

It's begun with Asobi Seksu's Citrus, and eight plays into this little experiment, I have no idea why I gave it a 3.5 on RYM and decided it was a high priority purchase. Strawberries is a song with some awesome guitar tones in it, but asides from that, I haven't found much worth remembering or paying for. Frankly, Yuki Chikudate's voice is weaker than I like to hear from women, and not very effective. It's an upbeat dream pop album, and it's not really clicking with me.

I just brought this album home:

Loving it. Googled for some more information and...

Same album, CD cover is totally different.
I know that cover...
Ah wait, I bought it years ago and never got into it.
Bought it again, on vinyl this time, by accident and am absolutely loving it.
Well this was an easy one .

I just saw them in October with Boris. Absolutely phenomenal. Boris is legend for sure, but Asobi Seksu, who I had never heard of at that point, blew me away. I was not expecting something like that at all. Unfortunately, I haven't got any of their albums.

At what point do you say "You know what, I actually don't like this album, I don't care if everyone else does" because there is far too much music out there for me to digest as it is, why waste it on an album that may take six or seven listens?

Leave it at the "This is a complete pile of garbage" stage. And throw it in the bin

not when it's really rewarding when you finally "get" it

took me 20 listens to get into Trout Mask Replica

More rewarding than three or four other albums that you could have been into instead? I don't think so. I understand there may be a few albums that are completely life changing if you got into them eventually, but I doubt most of them will really make much difference.

20 listens? Jeez. Took me one
