Interesting idea. Let's see what I need to face up to..
Also, most will be approximations.

1. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles 5-10 years. It's got some good songs but not an album I ever feel like listening to in its entirety.
2. Pet Sounds - The Beach Boys Several years. I like it quite a bit though. I should put it on soon.
3. Revolver - The Beatles Same as above.
4. Highway 61 Revisited - Bob Dylan I recently went through an obsessive phase with Dylan. 1 or 2 months. This is one of the few that I really like.
5. Rubber Soul - The Beatles Same as Pet Sounds and Revolver.
6. What's Going On - Marvin Gaye Just last week actually. I love this album.
7. Exile on Main Street - The Rolling Stones Never
8. London Calling - The Clash Never. I honestly can't get through the thing in one sitting. There are a few good songs on it but not many.
9. Blonde on Blonde - Bob Dylan Months. This is a pretty good one.
10. The Beatles ("The White Album") - The Beatles 5 or 10 years but I really like a lot of it. I used to listen to it regularly.
11. The Sun Sessions - Elvis Presley Never.
12. Kind of Blue - Miles Davis Couple years. I may have over-listened to this one. I love it but have heard it too many times.
13. Velvet Underground and Nico - The Velvet Underground About five years. It's mostly pretty good.
14. Abbey Road - The Beatles 5-10 years. Definitely my least favorite of theirs.
15. Are You Experienced? - The Jimi Hendrix Experience 5-10 years. It's okay.
16. Blood on the Tracks - Bob Dylan Months.
17. Nevermind - Nirvana Years but for the same reason as Kind of Blue. I actually love this album.
18. Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen Longer than I can remember. I hate Springsteen.
19. Astral Weeks - Van Morrison Never.
20. Thriller - Michael Jackson I listened to it back when MJ died. I bought the tape when it came out and listened to it a lot as a kid.
21. The Great Twenty-Eight - Chuck Berry Never.
22. Plastic Ono Band - John Lennon Very recently. I love this album and never go more than a few months without listening to it.
23. Innervisions - Stevie Wonder Never.
24. Live at the Apollo - James Brown Never.
25. Rumours - Fleetwood Mac 10 years? Or maybe I just remember crap I've heard on the radio.
26. The Joshua Tree - U2 It's been a few years at least. I'm not much of a U2 fan but it's definitely pretty okay.
27. King of the Delta Blues Singers, Vol. 1 - Robert Johnson Every few years at least. I love all of his stuff along with a lot of the other Delta Blues men.
28. Who's Next - The Who Never.
29. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin 20 years?
30. Blue - Joni Mitchell Never but I'm pretty sure I'd like it.

Wow.

On your list you`ve got Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult, Hendrix, Maiden, Styx, Kansas, Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Saxon, Stranglers and my god Ten Years After! I like you again! I`m puzzled though, I was under the impression that you didn`t like metal, or are you one of those people that only likes classic era metal of the 1970s and early 1980s?
Got to admit, Styx is sort of there for boat on the river. Sorry for that .

About Ten Years After. I love Ten Years After... Stonedhenge is DEFINITLY in my top 50.
Only... I always go "Ten Years After, John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers, Old Fleetwood Mac".
So to me it makes... No sense to me that you like Ten Years After but not Fleetwood Mac. How strange! I do see a big smilarity between those bands. Am I hearing something that isn't there? Or have you just heard the wrong tracks? I dunno.

Urban is just sat back in his chair now smoking a cigar, stroking a cat and inside he is saying "boom, look at that one explode"

Best of lists from magazines or popular sites are almost always comprised of people who 'like' music and not people who still actually enjoy music.

1. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles - Yesterday. My favorite album of all time so far, which isn't fun to admit because the album is so overrated but if I'm being honest I have to go with it (my favorite for simple enjoyment but I consider Revolver to be a better album...)
2. Pet Sounds - The Beach Boys - A little more than a month ago?
3. Revolver - The Beatles - Two days ago.
4. Highway 61 Revisited - Bob Dylan - A couple of weeks ago. I'm only just getting into Bob Dylan.
5. Rubber Soul - The Beatles - Sometime in the last week.
6. What's Going On - Marvin Gaye - Within the past month.
7. Exile on Main Street - The Rolling Stones - Within the past week but like Bob Dylan, I've only starting listening to the Stones recently.
8. London Calling - The Clash - A couple of months ago. I've been looking for a copy on vinyl and I've been busy with Sandinista!
9. Blonde on Blonde - Bob Dylan - A couple of weeks ago.
10. The Beatles ("The White Album") - The Beatles - Listening to it right now.
11. The Sun Sessions - Elvis Presley - Never listened to.
12. Kind of Blue - Miles Davis - Little more than a month ago, I believe.
13. Velvet Underground and Nico - The Velvet Underground A week and a half ago.
14. Abbey Road - The Beatles - In the past week.
15. Are You Experienced? - The Jimi Hendrix Experience A couple of weeks ago.
16. Blood on the Tracks - Bob Dylan - Never listened to.
17. Nevermind - Nirvana - A little less than a month ago. It didn't do a whole lot for me.
18. Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen - Never listened to all the way through.
19. Astral Weeks - Van Morrison - Never listened.
20. Thriller - Michael Jackson - Never listened!
21. The Great Twenty-Eight - Chuck Berry - NEVER LISTENED!
22. Plastic Ono Band - John Lennon - A few weeks ago.
23. Innervisions - Stevie Wonder - Never listened.
24. Live at the Apollo - James Brown - Never listened.
25. Rumours - Fleetwood Mac - I want to say sometime within in the past two months, but maybe I didn't listen to the entire thing.
26. The Joshua Tree - U2 - Never.
27. King of the Delta Blues Singers, Vol. 1 - Robert Johnson - Haven't heard.
28. Who's Next - The Who Have a copy sitting in my room, waiting to be heard for the first time.
29. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin - A couple of days ago.
30. Blue - Joni Mitchell - Never listened to before.

So I think I'm a person who seemingly slides in perfectly with the greatest albums lists we see so often. I have no idea if that will continue or not, but it's obviously true at this point! My tastes are still settling, which is probably a factor in why I'm listening to these usually critically acclaimed albums. If I heard an album is really great over and over again, I'm more likely to try out said album before another album, lesser acclaimed album.

1. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles

Last heard it last year. After a hiatus of about 10 years (?). Still find it refreshing and probably the pinnacle of their career.

2. Pet Sounds - The Beach Boys

Overplayed. Haven't heard it in 15 years and plan not to in the next 15 years.

3. Revolver - The Beatles

Last heard it half a year ago. Find it overrated. Not gonna hear it again for another 20 (?) years.

4. Highway 61 Revisited - Bob Dylan

Recently got a remastered copy (1 year ago). Big mistake. Overplayed as well.

5. Rubber Soul - The Beatles

Still okay. I go back to it now and then.

6. What's Going On - Marvin Gaye

Last heard about two months ago. Darn, is it monotonous or what?

7. Exile on Main Street - The Rolling Stones

Used to have a high regard for it. Heard it a few months ago and discovered the songs are rather plodding.

8. London Calling - The Clash

No thanks. Didn't like it when i got it, liked it for a while, and now don't like it either.

9. Blonde on Blonde - Bob Dylan

My most overplayed album. Averages a play a week for the last 20 odd years. Finally came to a halt a couple of months ago, and swore never to hear it for the next 20 years.

10. The Beatles ("The White Album") - The Beatles

Still good. Every now and then also.

11. The Sun Sessions - Elvis Presley

Mesmerising. Heard it a few weeks ago.

12. Kind of Blue - Miles Davis

Overhyped. Pleasant enough but i only heard it two or three times since i got it. and last heard about a year ago.

13. Velvet Underground and Nico - The Velvet Underground

Again, quite overplayed. Although there are new things to be rediscovered every time I put it on. Last heard a month ago.

14. Abbey Road - The Beatles

Hardly my favourite. Last heard a year ago.

15. Are You Experienced? - The Jimi Hendrix Experience

Least fave of the official albums, tend to skip to the singles and B-Sides. Last heard a year ago.

16. Blood on the Tracks - Bob Dylan

Overplayed as well. Last heard immensely when i broke up with my ex, about 2 years ago.

17. Nevermind - Nirvana

Boring. I listen to Bleach more. Last heard two months ago.

18. Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen

Just got it. Haven't spun yet.

19. Astral Weeks - Van Morrison

Some sort of annual pilgrimage for me. Last heard a month ago.

20. Thriller - Michael Jackson

Bought it initially and relistened to it a lot. Recently acquired an Anniversary edition. Bonus trax suck. Last heard 5 months ago. Prefer Off the Wall really.

21. The Great Twenty-Eight - Chuck Berry

Haven't heard this in ages. 20 years ago. Not even sure if the CD still works.

22. Plastic Ono Band - John Lennon

Noice! Lots of listens int he car driving to my ex's place. About 2 years ago.

23. Innervisions - Stevie Wonder

Not much relistens. About 7 months ago.

24. Live at the Apollo - James Brown

Don't have this. Only have Apollo 2

25. Rumours - Fleetwood Mac

Another perennial fave. Last heard a month ago.

26. The Joshua Tree - U2

What? Haven't heard it in ages under my own accord. Last heard a coupla weeks ago and that's only because my bro put it on in the car.

27. King of the Delta Blues Singers, Vol. 1 - Robert Johnson

I listen to "The Complete Recordings". A week ago.

28. Who's Next - The Who

Not really worth revisiting so much. Prefer the bonus tracks, such as "Pure and Easy".

29. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin

Haven't touched this in ages. Mostly cos i dunno where it is. About 20 years ago, I guess.

30. Blue - Joni Mitchell

Not a fan. I don't own a single sausage by her.

Don`t underestimate yourself, looking at your list, you can probably teach some people quite a bit, there`s a lot of great classic and forgotten releases on it.

That Styx album btw, is easily their poorest from their mid to late 1970s golden era, as is only really on there because it contained "Babe", the rest of the album is quite bland.

I never said I disliked the original FWM, just that I preferred the second incarnation (proper) of the band. I`m actually a huge fan of blues rock in general, but I happen to think that a lot of the artists of that genre performed far better live than they did on their studio recordings. Ten Years After are a perfect example.

I will say before I list this, that I'm not in a big music spree at the moment - I've been realising how bad my Irish has got recently, so most of my listening time has been spent listening to Radio in Irish to remember how to speak it again :P That said:

1. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles - Last Month
2. Pet Sounds - The Beach Boys - Errr... Never. I haven't got around to this one yet :P
3. Revolver - The Beatles - Last 3 months
4. Highway 61 Revisited - Bob Dylan - Never - Not a huge Dylan Fan, I have heard bits and pieces of his music and he doesn't do much for me.
5. Rubber Soul - The Beatles - Last year, of their albums it's not one I listen to often
6. What's Going On - Marvin Gaye - Two years ago - went through a funk/soul spree about two years ago, I found him a bit repetitive tbh.
7. Exile on Main Street - The Rolling Stones - Never - The stones are an example of how inexplicable my listening patterns can be: Love what I've heard of them, but have simply never sat down and listened to on of their albums.
8. London Calling - The Clash Ohh... about 3 years ago.
9. Blonde on Blonde - Bob Dylan - Never - see above for comments about Dylan
10. The Beatles ("The White Album") - The Beatles - CD1 - last month. CD2 - proobably a bit longer, about 3 months ago.
11. The Sun Sessions - Elvis Presley - Never. Elvis is the kind of artist I hear bits and pieces of enough that I don't get the urge to listen to one of his albums.
12. Kind of Blue - Miles Davis - last year.
13. Velvet Underground and Nico - The Velvet Underground - I think I have listened to this, but it was so long ago I can't remember if I have or not :P
14. Abbey Road - The Beatles - last month
15. Are You Experienced? - The Jimi Hendrix Experience - about 6 months ago
16. Blood on the Tracks - Bob Dylan - Never
17. Nevermind - Nirvana - Does singing the songs to yourself count? If so - yesterday. If not: about 3 months ago.
18. Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen - 2 years ago
19. Astral Weeks - Van Morrison - about 6 months ago
20. Thriller - Michael Jackson - last year
21. The Great Twenty-Eight - Chuck Berry - never
22. Plastic Ono Band - John Lennon - never
23. Innervisions - Stevie Wonder - never - I have one stevie wonder album that gets listened to every now and then, but it is not this.
24. Live at the Apollo - James Brown - Nope
25. Rumours - Fleetwood Mac - last month
26. The Joshua Tree - U2 - 6 months ago
27. King of the Delta Blues Singers, Vol. 1 - Robert Johnson - never
28. Who's Next - The Who - about 6 months ago
29. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin - last year
30. Blue - Joni Mitchell - 2 months ago - gf is a fan, tend to be played every now and then.

I'll add that a lot of these intervals are much longer than they would normally be, as I haven't quite transferred my music from ireland to england yet, so I'm still missing a big bunch of CDs.

Sorry, but I've got to ask: How can you think an album is your favourite of all time, but also think it overrated?
