also a third one:-

try not to be so "inane" here

i mean, i dunno, it seems like people want a dissertation from me about my music tastes, whereas i find that if i get over-analytical about music, it seems to detract from my enjoyment of it

I don't really see the point in listening to x number of new artists or listening to x number of genres.

I'm just going to carry on listening to whatever I want whenever I want.

I agree. However, there are so many artists I have yet to listen to.

I think it is important to keep up with new music that may or may not interest you. Also, the X amount of bands/plays is more about broadening your musical horizons, not showing off.

(well, it is in my case, as I need to catch up to you...)

I'll limit mine to 5
  1. Purchase a decent record player and continue purchase more used Vinyl
  2. Finish revising my back catalog of music reviews
  3. Write at least 100 new music reviews
  4. Explore the Indie Rock Genre
  5. Explore the music of at least 24 new bands (2 a month)

Probably to listen to more African and Arab music

And to continue keeping out of mutual ass-licking on Musicbanter.

You heard DRC Music: Kinshasa One Two? I liked it a lot. Also, Africa Hitech: 93 Million Miles.
