thats the main reason I got this thread going, to make sure I'm always working on some kind of song, get a better feel for FL and the other DAWs and such I use

Had I not been inspired, I would have either not finished it or not cared enough about it to send it in. This is good for me right now, because I've been in a dry spell since my last project. Same here. It's literally been over two years since I produced music in any kind of quantity. I don't even have my little studio area set up at my new place, even though I've been here almost a year, but this contest is causing me to slowly set it up.

I'm glad that I've slipped in before the voting was finished, I had business matters to tend to.
I'm going to stick with Rubato's piece, all of the other pieces really appealed to me, especially Janszoon's and of course FD's, but Rubato's bit really stuck with me.

Good to hear this thing is getting you back in the game. I hate to say it, but my friend is constantly wanting to do projects with me, but the open-ended nature of it lets my procrastinating nature get the best of me in that sort of scenario. Here, with a deadline, I do better than I would otherwise. Even if I don't make a deadline, at the very least, I will have put some ideas together and contributed to my stockpile of material that may be used on another project for something else. The process of hammering out ideas regularly is probably a win on all fronts for any music maker.

That said, I'm glad we're all doing this. The process is exercise and productive, and the competition gives us that kick to put effort into it instead of mindlessly pumping out material with no goal or inspiration behind it.

I'm gonna be boring and go with Freebase, there was obviously quite a lot of thought put into it and he displayed an excellent sense of form.

Yeah, since composition was primarily for my own sake the vast majority of projects have gone unfinished as I just move onto something else when I have the basic workings done, this competition forces me to see them through so I have something at the end of it rather than loose bits of paper.

I know exactly what you mean as far as unfinished projects are concerned. Either this contest is going to create an ass load more, what with all my self-doubt, or help me finish things I get sidetracked from. I'm hoping it's the latter.

I didnt vote (been real busy with life unfortanitly havnt had much mb time) but I listened to your entry and it was killer. Your voice is nothing like I would have thought.

I grabbed what memory I wanted to base the song off of, and it flowed out of me quicker than anything else I've ever done. I'm just mixing it and I should have it uploaded within the hour

Edit: Mixing was much quicker than I expected. The song I submitted is based off all those days as a kid playing in the forest behind my house
