If i remember correctly it was two guitars and two synths. It sounds way better when you can hear all the bass though. There's a lot being cut out of the mix, for instance there's some shoegaze-y synth sounds that are almost totally lost.

whereas everyone made relatively long songs mine is ridiculously short. Had a hard time milking it, so it turned out to be 18 seconds

Possibly it's the inclination to tell a story through music, and that is quite a hard thing to do. I'm trying to incorporate into my piece that an inanimate object begins to move, inch by inch, and then topples over and breaks. It's really hard to do in under 5 minutes.
