What do you think of this generation of music?

What do you think of the music that is performed and sung today compared to the 50's, 60's, 70's etc.. I personally cannot stand it. I am 16 years old, and I cannot stand the music that all my friends/classmates listen to. Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Lil Wayne, Wocka Flocka, etc.. it's ****!! I mean ALMOST every rap song nowadays is either about gettin money, sex, ****ing bitches, smoking blunts, and partying. What happened to rap like 2pac that had beautiful poetry and sings songs about life? What happened to Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, Aerosmith? Why does the younger generation of people listen to the that nonsense crap? Post your opinions.

There is good and bad now just like there always has been. The best selling album of the 90s was by Shania Twain for fuck's sake.

I the state of music is the best its ever been and will continue to be that way. You just have to look.

The reason Lady GaGa and Katy Perry are so popular is that a lot of people just want a good beat and something easy to dance/sing to in the car. They don't want to analyze or think too hard about what they're listening to, and that's perfectly fine. And for the record, a lot of pop music throughout the ages has been about sex, or drinking, or drugs, or whatever... it just wasn't as blatant. The Beatles wrote an ode to LSD, remember?

Regardless, there's plenty of great non-pop music out there right now. You just have to know where to look.

There's still good music out there dude..it just wont EVER be played on the radio. The people that keep feeding the radio money are too brain dead to listen to any music that takes a thought process to make.

Led Zeppelin split up after their drummer Bonzo died. Page and Plant renunited but left out John Paul John in their plans - that pissed him off a bit when he saw them playing on the telly with another bass player playing his bass lines. Pink Floyd split in two, Bob Geldoff got them back together but it was a one off, Syd Barrett & Nick Mason sadly passed away. Bob Dylan has a son now, Jakob, who plays music as well. Aerosmith, Steve Tyler became a judge on America Idol and does commercials etc.

Its as good now as ever really. I think pop is at it's low point for sure, but there's so much good indie music and non-mainstream stuff out there, and easy to access too. Even some popular alternative artists that get heavy play on the radio are awesome, such as The Mars Volta, Mastodon and Tool just off the top of my head.

Ick, Hootie & the Blowfish! Ahhhh, stop reminding me of their existence.
