Biggest Debate in Rock N Roll History ?

The biggest debate in Rock n Roll history is ..Who's the better Beatles or Rolling Stones?
Well for me that's like picking your father or mother but out of these albums which do you prefer?

Rubber Soul vs. Aftermath
Revolver vs. Between the Buttons
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band vs. Their Satanic Majesties Request
Magical Mystery Tour vs. Beggars Banquet
White Album vs. Let it Bleed
Abbey Road vs. Sticky Fingers
Let It Be vs. Exile on Main St.

Duraddict 07-14-2012 11:14 PM

Neither. I think they're both kind of boring. But I'll go with the Stones, I guess. Jagger has attitude...

I do like the Beatles solo work, though.

Duraddict 07-15-2012 10:25 AM

By that standard, I'm assuming you also love Britney Spears? :P She has more sales than she knows what to do with. :P

Why not Madonna? She's the best selling female artist of all time. Doesn't that make her better than those lightweights?

Vertigo 07-15-2012 11:49 AM

No offence Newguy, but's a pretty weak argument you've mustered so far regarding your personal opinion of the Beatles. When you said 'the greatest group to ever do music' it doesn't exactly read as a personal, sincere statement. It's sounds rather hackneyed, like you're trying to convince yourself of this, rather than others.

wow can't believe you compared the two..
maybe you should check out some of the beatles songs someday it's a miracle you don't know their work.

Agley88 07-15-2012 12:59 PM

In my opinion they both have some amazing highs and amazing lows but my preferences on your choices are:

Rubber Soul
Revolver
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club BandBeggars Banquet
Let it Bleed
Sticky Fingers
Let It Be

Actually, I was comparing her to Sade and Amy Winehouse—and teasing you about using record sales as a measure of quality.

I enjoy Madonna 100x more than I have ever enjoyed anything by The Beatles.

Because I can't relate to The Beatles.

And I don't think they were as creative as they are made out to be. I'd rather listen to their contemporaries, like The Doors.

If you're putting the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Britney Spears and Madonna in the same thread what do you expect.

wow as creative? Damn :nono: the doors fell off after the 2nd album (although morrison hotel is amazing) so that means they have 3 awesome albums thats it..the beatles have 12 then again it's all about taste we simply can agree to disagree

Janszoon 07-15-2012 02:34 PM

The Beatles have twelve awesome albums? Come on.

The Beatles probably have about 6 or 7 amazing albums, the first half of their career is probably not much better than most of the other pop bands that they were in contention with. The Doors actually had 3 to 4 amazing albums, so if you look at the % they're pretty much on the same level as the Beatles.

Why is it, that at least once a year, we get someone on here that seems to think the Beatles were the be all and end all of music. They were just an amazing band, but then again so are a lot of other bands.

jackhammer 07-15-2012 05:25 PM

The Kinks :)

Zappas Utopia 07-15-2012 05:35 PM

I'm very skeptical that Amy Winehouse or Sade will be even a blip on the influencing anyone in 20 years. The Beatles will be influencing artists 200 years from now

That doesn't mean that the bands they will influence will be any good though.

If we didn't have Syd Barrett or the Velvet Underground then Alternative music may not exist at all or if Mozart got drunk instead of writing music then we may not have any modern music.

I grew up with The Beatles and appreciate their music but they are not the be all and end all of music as we know it and people should accept criticism of their music like any other artistes.

I listen to and enjoy 5 albums by The Doors on a regular basis compared to one I enjoy by The Beatles which I've maybe listened to once in the past 3 years.

But yes, let's agree to disagree and avoid the massive pink elephant in the room that Beatles fanboys can't comprehend people thinking they're not the greatest band ever.

Damn right. I have listened to The Beatles far too much already, and it will probably take me another year or two to return to one of their albums. However, I will listen to a Doors album every couple of months and enjoy the hell out of it.

i love the doors and jim's voice but that's drinking music for me and my buds..
morrison hotel is easily in my top 10 favorite albums of all time ..

check this out :

making of strange days: "We all thought it was the best album. Significantly, it was also the one with the weakest sales. We were confident it was going to be bigger than anything The Beatles had done."
