I'm a huge fan of The Beatles your not alone. I prefer them to The Stones. Its mainly the vocals i detest from The Stones, I think Jagger is a hack. I do however like a few Stones songs.

You're right, and whoever said that shouldn't have said it, but I think it's safe to say the majority of people involved in this conversation haven't resorted to namecalling.

Anyway, I mentioned earlier in this thread that I went with Sgt Pepper and I wanted to focus more on that for reasons I don't have yet. I find it to be (for me) one of the more flowing and easier albums to get through from front to back. It starts off strong, and ends strong. I even have a few personal favorites that have always been favorites of mine, though I didn't know they were on this specific record.

And something cool about the next song i'm posting: When I was in California, there was this homeless guy with an acoustic guitar, and he starting playing Beatles covers. He started playing When I'm Sixty-Four and I could tell that if Paul McCartney had been sitting there, he would have been impressed.

Wow, this thread has got out of control. Dont feel too hated blackdragon, you took a stand against janszoon and urban, and thats no easy task. They are great at getting their point across and making it seem valid, they're some of the best debaters on this site.

Kudos to my friend salami for coming in with a neutral, logical comment after all the mess has settled.

I must say that through all the mess I read, the most absurd comment I read was something about maroon 5 being a good band for middle-aged people. That was a joke, right? We all know how many middle-aged people like to get down to "moves like jagger" on a Friday night.

Also, someone told blackdragon to "deal with" their distaste for the beatles. If anything should be "dealt with", it's that so many people love the beatles. That's just the way it is. rolling stone is, as I mentioned earlier, a mainstream publication founded on Rock and pop, what do you expect? That's something else that you all need to "deal with".

I don't agree with rolling stones list, but for all of you who do strongly hate it, what would be your choices?

^Is it weird that I didn't really feel that the thread got that out of hand? I thought we were just having a music discussion with some disagreements.

Basically whats being said here, is that the forum seems to attract the worst kind of Beatles fan, for example they're the best band ever, so end of story type debates. The forum hasn't attracted since I've been here Stones fans with the same mentatility, but its not to say they don't exist, its just that they are not on this forum.

Any thread where the Beatles or Alice (Boring) in Chains gets attacked, always leads to people getting the needle

But surely with the Stones it has to really be a different kind of fanatic - the sort of person who's fanatical about the Beatles will usually tend to work on the idea that they were the "most influential" and "most innovative" side of the argument, and following that therefore all other bands are inferior copies (or such seems to be the sort of argument made). They'll point out that the catchy, simple lyrics and instrumentation in their songs formed the roots of modern pop and that people related to it more than any other band.
The Stones fanatics won't really pursue that line of reasoning - they are far more likely to argue that the lyrics are deeper and deal with real world problems. As a result, I find it hard not to imagine the Stones obsessives being altogether more worldly and more rough than the Beatles bores.

Pearl Jam's Ten should be in the top 10.

It's the best and most influential album of the latest 30 years.
Come on, be serious. all of Nirvana's albums are better than those guys, all the albums standing alone. There is only a few good songs by Pearl Jam.
