Halloween Music

Does anyone have artsy videos for Halloween they like to share?

The first two videos are done in cgi and and have pretty cool moving 3D shots. The Bauhaus video uses excerpts from old B&W movies featuring footage from none other than Béla Lugosi!

Frozen Autumn are a Dark Wave band from Italy.

The Deadfly Ensemble. Don't know much about them. I like the video better than the music tbh.

Bauhaus, with the song that launched Goth:

I couldn't think who the singer was imitating - so I had to look it up, it's Boris Karloff. I also found out that that song reached #1 on the Billboard in 1962 and it was banned in the UK lol.

The BBC had banned the record from airplay in 1962 on the grounds that the song was "too morbid".

HALLOWEEN music!!!

I love this time of year and all the fun Halloween songs out there. What are your favorites? This is a new one I just came across.
It's called "Zombie" by Alex Boye. I can't post links yet so just go to Youtube and search for it.

Also, I'd have to say a new classic for me is Marilyn Manson's cover of This Is Halloween. Diabolical. :D

Visiblman 10-22-2012 12:33 PM

I can't remember where I heard it (I think it was a movie) but the song by Bauhaus called Bella Lugosi's Dead is a fun long song.

Short and sweet, this Cult Movie classic will be stuck to your brain forever.

OK, my last one (for now?). This is a classic which was a major part of my Punk Years in Toledo.

An epic from what I think is The Damned's best ever album.

Sorry about that. I did a search of "Halloween" and nothing was returned so that's why I started this thread.

I must have done something wrong because I just did it again and got a whole lot of results. My bad:bonkhead:

Halloween 3: Season of the Witch.
It's the Halloween without the series' iconic character, but a fully different story - but I don't care, I like the film. It's a very dark ride.

Don't mention it, it's just that time of year were you get that urge to make Halloween threads.

Here are a couple of other Cult Movie classics - for the last one it isn't from a movie but the title but - I'm guessing - is in reference to Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens (Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror).

Yeah, the content isn't blatantly Halloween related but I've always got that sorta creepy vibe from it.

Same with this whole album

Good song. I'm sure there was a reference (or at least a very fitting title) considering the Horror imagery in some of the lyrics.

Other Monochrome Set titles which were film titles: Alphaville (their debut single, I think), The Devil Rides Out, The Ruling Class. It's not a complete list, but a good indication of where some of their titles came from.

I don't have a video for Mortis, but some medieval darkware should do ya fine.

This song (and the rest of the EP for that matter) has a kind of macabre horror punk lyrical and musical direction. I usually spin this record around Halloween time.

I like blasting Sunn O))) and wearing a black robe covered in blood when I give out candy. It's farcking hilarious to see the little kids shaking in fear as they accept candy from a terrifying man.

Surell 10-23-2012 11:06 PM

Somebody beat me to Sunn O))) but i'll still name a couple more by them:

Bathory Erszebet
It Took the Night To Believe
Cursed Realms (of the Winter Demons)

and others:

For the Turnstiles by Neil Young
Hash Wednesday by Trash Talk
Schism Lullaby by Rockabye Baby!
Black Tongue by Feistedon
Chainsaw Massacre by the Ramones

and others.

Frownland, you and i should go into the Haunted House business together. My plan is to be at the very center with a DJ set doing a live remix of It Took the Night to Believe all night.

I would gladly do so. I'd say that "It Took the Night To Believe" is my favourite way to terrify houseguests halfway through the night. Keep in mind that I've had a lot of parties and went through a phase where scaring the absolute ****e out of somewhat sober people was indeed the funniest would make me the god of pranks. I can do some demented screaming over the DJ work if you wish haha.

Surell 10-23-2012 11:17 PM

OOOOO that sounds juicy! My plan for my halloween party, if i move my mobile turntable, was to play Sunn O))) all night but i'm not a bold enough man to bum people out that much. Plus the only dudes who would be down to keep it on are moved away now :(((((( But it's just so perfect!

I'm putting you down in my imaginary PDA.

Frownland 10-23-2012 11:20 PM

I see a fantastic business opportunity opening up, let's scare the shit out of some clientele!

Every Halloween needs Alice. I don't really care for the first one, but it's relative.

I could go on, but I won't.

nice call on Cooper and The Squirrel Nut Zippers :)

the unreleased Hellraiser songs always chill me to the bone :)

A few personal classics, "Spider Baby" probably being my favorite Halloween song of all time:

Fantômas—"Spider Baby"

Otto Von Schirach—"Zombie Halloween"

Oingo Boingo—"Dead Man's Party"

Gotta agree on that one. I'ven't seen that film in ages, I really should give it another go, I loved it on my first viewing. Love that whole Fantomas album as well, especially Der Golem:

I love the grainy 80's VHS feel of the Boingo video. Halloween isn't the same without Boingo performing anymore. The knockoff with Vatos and Bartek is fun but its just not the same.

I'm not sure if I heard of them before, there are sorta a recent discovery.

A band I'm more fimilar with is the Psychedelic Furs. I absolutely love their song "Ghost in You" it is such a perfect recording, perfect choice of keyboard sound etc. "Ghost Office" sound like it's done with all analog synths (and electronic drums). "Ghost Riders" The Outlaws pays homage to those who recorded the song before them especially Johnny Cash, you can hear Luther Perkins' boom-chicka-boom style being imitated, the guitar playing really picks up @ 4:00.

All three are really great songs imo, and I guess it probably has to do with the fact "Ghost" is in the title.
