Do you download music?

I don't want to get into a debate here about whether you think it's right or wrong -- we can do that in another thread. I just have two simple questions:

1. Do you download music?

2. If yes, what program do you use?

Thanks!

Xarius 02-21-2004 09:54 PM

I do sometimes, but not THAT often. (I have under 1000 songs on this comp, including many CDs I bought and have simply copied on here.

I use KaZaA.

Edgil 02-22-2004 05:06 AM

Napster..

quit downloading illegal music people oh well ull get sued eventually

winterslastbreath 02-22-2004 11:46 AM

i download music... if i search a band that i may be interested in i download a few songs, then if i like them go out and buy the cd..

i use kazaa

2tonelol 02-22-2004 05:23 PM

kazaa, emule, edonkey just to replace my old lp's(why should i pay twice?)

DJ_Jester 02-22-2004 05:31 PM

He means when he is replacing his LPs (long playing records). That's perfectly legal.

Xarius 02-22-2004 08:38 PM

I have stopped doing it for the most part...The last time I downloaded any more than a song or two from a band before buying the album was linkin park in the summer.

I downloaded dont stay by korn, and feeling this by blink, and since I liked those songs, i got the albums.

Eltiraaz 02-23-2004 01:36 PM

Yeah thats generally the way I take it, I like to know that I'm getting my moneys worth out of a cd before I buy it. Because of downloading music I have list of cd's miles high that I want to buy now. It works both ways for me.

Rockafella Skank 02-23-2004 02:08 PM

I definitely treat downloading music like a radio. I may download a song here or there, but it's really just to test to see whether I like it enough to buy the album.

MobilizeTerror 03-11-2004 06:12 PM

As everyone else said, I do it to see if I'd like the band, and if I do I go buy the cd, if not, then I didnt waste money! I dont share it anyway

Same here. I use Limwire [free version].

nelsone 11-02-2005 09:42 PM

Most of the stuff I download I end up buying anyway. For me nothing beats being able to read the CD liners and I want to support the bands so they can continue to not have day jobs. (If the don't have already).

For my band, we are allowing full download of our material at crashbasket.com. we figure everyone should listen to it and share it. That's what music is for right?

BFstreet_team 11-03-2005 09:28 AM

The only time I've ever downloaded is when it was unreleased or hard to find material. Other than that - I always go buy.

kenanderson99 11-04-2005 03:25 PM

i did, but it was stuff i had already pruchased over the years and some multiple times. u know old tapes and even some old record albums that all got demagnetized or badly scratched. there were a few that i threw-out because i no longer had a machine to play them on.

Spikey 11-05-2005 11:22 AM

Would anybody know if there are any "free" music downloads that I could get on my MP3 player and how I would do this?

holdyoualways 11-05-2005 12:46 PM

1. yes

2. limewire

i dont think its wrong at all. i mean yeah its techinically illegal but id rather download free albums then go out and buy them and then what if i dont like it if i buy it? i cant return it after its already been used. downloading is just so much better. but thats me. im a rebel

Spikey 11-05-2005 01:50 PM

I could not agree more. The whole thing of downloading music for (coughs up quietly "free") is fantastic. Thank you for that I'll have a good look round.:)

Merkaba 11-05-2005 02:00 PM

Limewire owns

And I do not pirate music, i merely borrow it.

holdyoualways 11-05-2005 02:12 PM

Merkaba 11-05-2005 02:32 PM

Oh you disgust me.

Scarlett O'Hara 11-05-2005 09:24 PM

>.> <.< Yeah, I download, but not excessively. I buy CD's more so it's all good. Out of the 1531 music files on my comp only around 200 are downloaded so it isn't that bad. ^_^ I started out using WinMX because it was the easiest program to use. Very simple download and fast downloads, but then it went crashing down and sadly it may never come back :soapbox:
When I tried Limewire it was just too much for my little comp, so was KaZaa... even Morpheus is but I kept it because I couldn't get it off my computer. >.<

Solution: buy a new computer!

frozengoose 11-09-2005 12:00 AM

I use limewire but only download to preview before borrowing a cd or buying it.
