Bands That Had Loads of Hype, How Popular Are They Now?

This thread is really more suited for the long time members of the forum, or people who have been on music forums & chat rooms for a number of years.

The Klaxons
Remember them? The band that you couldn't get away from anywhere in 2007?
I did a forum search on them....

Number of posts on musicbanter mentioning them in the last 4 years = 25

Any other bands you can think of that have had such a spectacular falling of popularity since you've been a member of the boards?

How about every band in the Hardcore & Emo forum? Seriously, I remember a few years ago that place was always jumping. Now it only gets a post every couple of weeks.

Yeah but were any of these bands really hyped in the traditional sense? That was pretty much exclusive to that forum on this website.

I don't know, I assumed when Urban mentioned other forums and chat rooms he was referring to bands that were hyped among music fans in general.

My Chemical Romance was extremely over-hyped when I started browsing internet forums. I remember listening to them for the first time expecting something totally amazing, and was left extremely disappointed.

Pretty much sums it up perfectly. I like some hardcore and emo bands, but I won't say that this isn't how most of the fanbase is.
