Why white?
Even "christian" music in the metal style is known as "unblack metal"

I likened the shades of dark gray to the different sub-genre of metal:
black metal, death metal, etc.

Black denotes a myriad of colors. Metal would be white since its rarely involving styles of other genres.

Hmmm.... so many sub-genres of metal though... different shades for different sub-genres.
