You're about to die and you can only listen to 3 songs..

Which would they be? 3 songs before you pass away and leave this place forever..
Here are my top 3 songs..(feel free to explain why you would pick your 3 songs)

The song to relax me before it all ends..

Stone Temple Pilots- And So I Know - YouTube

The song I can listen to and just reminisce/look back on my the happy moments in my life.

Beach Boys - Wouldn't It Be Nice - YouTube

My goodbye world song and the one that prepares me for the afterlife..

The Beatles Free As A Bird - YouTube

The song I can

Kelli 03-04-2013 09:26 PM

I'm bored so I'll come up with 3...ha.

This song to remind of my childhood because my parents always played it and it's a relaxing song.

Simon & Garfunkel - The Boxer - YouTube

This might sound cliche because it's so popular but this song has always seemed larger than life to me and, well, it just seems fitting.

Led Zeppelin - Stairway To Heaven - YouTube

I'd listen to this last. It's always been my favorite song because it means a lot to me, although I guess in this situation it would seem a bit ironic. Either way, this song has always been about hope to me. So in this case, hope in life after death. (ok that sounds a bit dark but whatever) It's my song.

Live Forever - YouTube

gunnels 03-04-2013 09:55 PM

As Slow As Possible by John Cage, three times.

Janszoon 03-04-2013 09:59 PM

I'll say this: listen to STP would probably make me want to die so I guess that would make sense.

Stone Temple Pilots- And So I Know - YouTube

This is beautiful... And I've heard of Stone Temple Pilots but don't know them really, so this is an awfully exciting new discovery.

Rjinn 03-05-2013 02:00 AM

In that order.

Thank you I didn't know who STP was even though I'm a 90's baby until my dad told me to put some of their music on his Ipod. This was one of the first songs he mentioned when I heard it I was blown away ...I thought they were some tool grunge band but I was wrong ..It's so soft, melodic and beautiful definitely something that relaxes me :D

Did you listen to the song I posted? If you don't find that beautiful then maybe you should give up listening to music period.

Scarlett O'Hara 03-05-2013 06:06 AM

Newguy, please don't double post. I've just noticed you're going wild today. Thanks.

Double post? When did I do that?

Scarlett O'Hara 03-05-2013 06:10 AM

When you post in reply to someone, submit it and then reply another person and submit that. It's post that a more than one of yours in a row. You can quote multiple people by pressing the "+" button beside the "Quote" button to avoid this. :)

Oh ok thanks for the tip :) I'll make sure to do that for now on.

Scarlett O'Hara 03-05-2013 06:12 AM

No worries, thanks for that!

Nice choice Rolling Stones were truly at their peak in the late 60's even though many would say the early 70's were the pinnacle of their musical career.

You're certainly right, and I even enjoyed their Bigger Bang album, the most recent. Somehow, no matter how corpse-like they get, they still remain talented. I'm a bit of a fangirl.

That's a good thing though I wish my girlfriend was a Stones fangirl. (That would be awesome :tramp:) I didn't like Bigger Bang they're way past their prime..They should've just retired after Tattoo You that's their last great album. Don't get me wrong they had a few good songs on their last album like Streets of Love (which is one of my all time favorite RS songs) and Dangerous Beauty but as a collective they album fell short.

Yes, I did. Sorry, but like pretty much all STP songs it does absolutely nothing for me.

First person to tell me they didn't love the song.. Hmmm..
You probably just hate the band so you assumed you wouldn't like it and didn't give it a listen.
Who do you listen to?

Rock N' Roll Clown 03-05-2013 10:08 AM

If I'm only 3 songs away from death, they'd be long ones
So, it'd be something like:

Dream Theater - Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence - 42:02
Pink Floyd - Shine On You Crazy Diamond - 26:05
and, my favorite
The Doors - The End (live) - ~17 minutes.

I did give it a listen. I mentioned that already. I'm sure I'm not the only person in the world who doesn't like it.

I'm not really sure how to answer that. I listen to a lot of different music and its been a long time since I've been able to define my taste by some small group of favorite artists. I do like the Beach Boys a lot though so we have that in common. :)

FRED HALE SR. 03-05-2013 10:34 AM

Stan Ridgway- Underneath the big green tree

Kinks- See My Friends

Johnny Cash- I Cornithians, 15:55

And i'd beg for one more by Billy Bragg: Tank Park Salute.

Depressing? Just maybe.

JakeATLBraves24 03-05-2013 10:38 AM

Interesting thread topic.

1. Just a song that makes me happy:

2. For the nostalgia and simple beauty:

3. To me, this song's meaning is facing death with dignity, so I think it would be appropriate:

Well there's 2 different types of Beach Boys fans..
The ones that only like the hits (Surfer Girl,Don't Worry Baby,California Girls)
and the art rock/pop fans that love Pet Sounds and Smile...
What side do you fall in?

Wow :) glad to see someone mentioned the Kinks!
I love See My Friends..It's one the first rock/pop songs to have Sitar playing and also inspired The Beatles to use that instrument.

Neither or both I guess. I like a lot of their early hits as well as Pet Sounds and Smile. My favorite albums by them are probably Today!, Pet Sounds, Smile and Love You.

Zer0 03-05-2013 10:48 AM

'Longplayer' by Jem Finer.

3 times.

I really disagree with you on the STP song but since you've brought up such an obscure album like Love You I have to give your props mainly because it's so slept on and nobody that isn't a true fan of the BB's would know of it. (That says alot about your taste in music.) One of my favorites songs of all time is on that album it's called "The Night Was So Young" I love the guitar on it and Carl's soft and sweet vocals. Today has my favorite BB song which is "Please Let Me Wonder" the outro to that song always gives me the chills .

Goofle 03-05-2013 11:01 AM

No Beach Boys album is obscure.

Everything after Pet Sounds is considered Obscure even the frightening "Smiley Smile" and also the weak R&B attempt "Wild Honey". I now love both of those albums but I remember how painful it was my first time hearing them. (Then I realized why they sounded the way they did after watching the biopic and doing my research on the history of The Beach Boys.)

Cinnamonics 03-05-2013 11:30 AM

In all honesty I would forego the music and just enjoy the silence, but for the sake of this thread:

Metallica - Nothing Else Matters
The Beatles - Across the Universe
Bob Dylan - Chimes of Freedom

They all seem to fit somehow, and the artists are probably the three most important to me throughout my life. I'm not sure in what order I would play the songs in, though.

Tristesse 03-05-2013 12:40 PM

At this point in time I'd probably go for:

XTC - Statue of Liberty
The Cure - Friday I'm In Love
Manic Street Preachers - Motorcycle Emptiness

Not particularly deep or thoughtful, but they do it for me.

Psychedub Dude 03-05-2013 04:45 PM

Island Feeling- Clear Conscience
Boss DJ- Sublime
Scars of Time- Yasunori Mitsuda

But it depends on how I was gonna die, if I was say going out in a blaze or battle I'd just have the Rocky theme blasting in the background.

Two songs to make me cry and reflect on my life...

One song to go out with a hopeful, dignified bang...

I also find Stone Temple Pilots atrocious, including the song you posted.

Guess I better stop listening to music! Brb guys deleting my whole iTunes, because if I hate everything ever done by STP, including "And So I Know," then I apparently don't deserve to listen to music ever.

Good-bye, cruel world.

Zer0 03-09-2013 02:36 PM

I've got along just nicely without having Stone Temple Pilots in my music collection, I won't be giving up on music and deleting my entire music collection anytime soon. There were so many ground-breaking bands in the 90's that I know that I wouldn't gain anything from listening to a STP album.
