This.

The Rolling Stones mag is invalid.

Are you serious? What's Goin On is one of the most influential albums of all time that happens to also be a Soul album. It's sad that you haven't heard it because you're missing out on a masterpiece.
(Go listen to it and don't come back until it's over.)

Where did I say it wasn't?

Have you heard it? Be honest bro...

I feel like these kind of lists are made by magazines (in particular Rolling Stone) just to get people to read and argue over them, but I just kinda scrolled through the list and here are a few of my thoughts about it:

-I don't think Nirvana, U2, or Bruce Springsteen should be in the top 30
-The Clash (#28) and The Who (#29) should be swapped.
-There's some I wouldn't put on there, like The Police and the Beastie Boys
-Despite whoever dislikes Aretha Franklin, she deserves to be in the top 10

And am I missing something, or is The Band supposedly amazing?

edit; by that i mean I don't understand why they're on there, sorry if I worded that weird :/

Of course I have, although I don't see how it makes any difference or not because it has nothing to do with my point.

I agree with everything you said..I'm not kissing ass I'm just saying you're 100% right :thumb:
The Who conquered everything genre they touched and were also a huge influence to Punk Rock so why the hell is the Clash before them?

Stay on subject we're talking about that album now..
What was it about that album that you found so amazing?

Urban Hat€monger ? 03-05-2013 06:23 PM

Yeah. Don't get me wrong, I like the Clash, but as important as they were to punk rock I don't think they did anything too amazing musically. I'm not even going to begin with what I would change on the top albums list, but I just glanced at it and London Calling being in the top ten seems to overrate them there as well. I don't dislike it, but Train in Vain was probably the only 'good' song I got out of listening to that. I'm sure they meant a lot to teenagers at the time, but from my perspective their music hasn't withstood the test of time like a lot of the Who's songs and albums have.

I found half of it to be good and half of it to be too syrupy, but I don't deny it's influence.

Marvin Gaye - You Sure Love to Ball - YouTube

It's not too bad but I would definitely make some changes (Skynyrd, The Velvet Underground, and Jimmy Hendrix higher; Nirvana, The Rolling Stones, and Elvis lower to name a few).
