Prefer It's Great When... to any Happy Mondays album.

Definitely the Chemical Brothers. :)

The Stone Roses have two albums and only their first was great. They were great at what they did but best out of Manchester in that time period? Not having that.

EDIT - I read my post back and it seems like I'm being an arsehole. I like TSR and Ian Brown's solo stuff but don't think TSR were the best.

Thanks.

I think in hindsight I should have added The Chemical Brothers, not actually familiar with the other two though. Any recommendations?

Voted Oasis because they mean the most to me out of these bands and are one of my favorites overall. Their first two albums (and b-sides from that time) were near-perfect, although I'll admit nothing they've done since then was that great except for a good single here and there. They're the one band my friends and I can agree on, and Noel and Liam's bitching was always ridiculous and entertaining.

About other bands on the poll options...

I love the Stone Roses first album. I thought Second Coming was awful.
I could never get into The Smiths. I don't know. They just bored me.
The Verve always had solid albums and I'm surprised nobody voted for them.
The other few I like but don't have much to say about them right now.

Of the list, The Smiths are the only one I care for.

Looking at the bands on this list really makes me wonder something: Do you have to be kind of asshole to be in a band in Manchester? It just seems like something of a motif with these artists.

The Second Coming is far from awful.
