Lightbulb Older Artists Bringing Out New Material

I've noticed a recent trend in older artists collaborating with newer artists. For example,

Damon Albarn producing Bobby Womack's new album.
Otis Redding collaborating with Kanye and Jay-Z on a track.
Jamie xx's re-working of Gil-Scott Heron's album.

I just wanted to see what people thought.

Is there anybody you would like to see resurrected musically?

Um, Otis Redding's been dead for forty years! Unless by resurrected you're talking literally?

I was thinking on more established artist after they get past like there 5th 6th record they get too comfortable ....and they should really stop

there should be a 4 album limit for bands and after that they should be forced to start a new band with new people LOL

Yeah Sonic Youth should have stopped after EVOL and not have made great albums like Sister, Daydream Nation, Goo, Dirty, Washing Machine, Murray Street and Sonic Nurse. It depends on the band or artist really.

dont forget iggy pop and ke$ha's song together.

And if we're talking about older artists actually coming out with new albums for some reason i just seem to avoid them. Like I love Neil Young but havent really heard is newer albums. Same goes for Bob Dylan, David Bowie, etc. Not sure why exactly but i think id rather spend the time discovering new bands rather than listen to bob dylans 314th studio album.

Also, I agree that listening and seeking out new artists is important but Bowie's new album is ****ing great.

Definitely agree. Not everyone's cup of tea probably but Rod Stewart's new one is pretty phenomenal too...

New artists, older ones, whatever: the important thing to me is good quality music & production.

"Older" artists who've recently released albums I enjoy:

Bevis Frond, Richard Thompson, Steve Earle, David Bowie, Eric Burdon

I also enjoyed the most recent releases from ZZ Top, Jimmy Cliff, Neil Young & Bob Dylan.

If the material & production could be good, I'd like to hear something new from Linda Ronstadt and Dave Edmunds.
