I agree, to some degree, that the human body is sexless unless you make it so, however, in many video clips referenced it's pretty obvious that the naked bodies in question are being made sexy by their movement/sex-mimicking poses etc.

In the UK we've had topless women in our biggest selling newspaper every day for 50 years. They've been using sexual/pornographic images to sell stuff since time began, its nothing new.

If you have nudity in a video it wont be played on tv, ask yourself this - If you're making a video and you know it wont be shown on tv what's is the point of making the video?

In other eras the video wouldn't have been made, it would have been seen as a total waste of money. Other eras didn't have the internet and as I'm sure we can all agree just about anything goes on the internet, actually that's not quite true is it, but we're led to believe that anything goes on the internet aren't we.

My favourite thing about the internet is its full of people who like to think they're very open minded and knowledgeable, they all agree with each other and this feeds their deluded opinions on how open minded the individual is. Just because a person has become slightly de-sensitised to pornographic images doesn't mean that person is open minded, lets not get open minded and de-sensitised mixed up.

As someone said earlier in this thread, sex has been used to sell stuff since time began. Sex and popular music go hand in hand and they always have, but traditionally the sex only happened in the mind of the listener, the listener didn't need naked images in the video. When your a child you need the pictures in the book to help you to learn to read that's why kids books have pictures, as an adult reader you'll notice the pictures are no longer in the book. Thats because the writer leaves it up to you, you can imagine whatever you like, and popular music is at its best when it sells itself that way.

I find it laughable that some people believe that humans are more open minded these days than ever before, particularly when it comes to sex. The same people probably believe that popular music is better today than ever before. Thats because humans don't like to admit they're dumb and they've been fed bull**** and they've believed it, that's why they find people that agree with them to make themselves feel better about themselves, and to add some validity to their opinions.

I'd like to remind everyone that the great dumbing down is well under way and its been under way for well over a decade. People are dumber now than they've probably ever been, tv proves this and movies prove this and modern day popular music also proves this. So lets not pretend we're all so open minded just because we don't get offended when a pair of boobs appear on the screen, you're de-sensitised, not open minded. How would you react if the next video showed a 9 year old girl sucking a priests dick and then she's anally raped by 15 men, in graphic detail? Exactly, now quite as open minded as you thought are you. If they could get away with showing those kind of images in videos they would, and with all the incredibly open minded people in the world today surely its only a matter of time before they do use images like that in a video.

That is maybe my favorite music video and IMO the best work she's ever done. I see no commonality whatsoever with little girls being anally raped. I see no commonality whatsoever with pornography. If you are saying that breasts equal pornography, well that's your problem

I watched the video Paul, and no I wouldn't describe it as pornographic but millions of people would. A semi naked female in a pop video will almost always be described as pornographic, or something approaching pornographic.

I couldn't think of one reason (without being cynical) why Bjork found it necessary to have her breasts on display in the video.

Be honest Paul, do you think it was necessary for Bjork to show her breasts in that video? Do you think the song demanded it? Do you think the video sold the song well because there was naked breasts on display? Once again I'm asking you to be totally honest here Paul, do you think the breasts were on display to gain some free publicity for the song in the hope it would increase sales for Bjork?

Just to clear something up, I wasn't suggesting naked breasts are in the same league as a little girl being anally raped. I was suggesting that if the video makers could get away with a vid showing the rape scene in graphic detail they would, not because we need to see it but because it'd cause a media storm and make them money, and when we become de-sensitised to that where do we go next?. It has to start somewhere, and I'm sure you'll agree we are far more de-sensitised to images of naked people than we were 30 years ago, and I'm not convinced its a good thing because I don't know where it will end.

geez and I thought I was bad with stretching and reaching.

You are definitely Queen of that along with your strawman argument.

haha.

Maybe I am stretching and reaching, maybe it is a strawman argument, maybe I'm playing devils advocate, maybe you're not mentally capable of understanding my argument. Who knows.

I'm capable of understanding your ridiculous argument but I'm not going to waste time breaking down every single part of your post to show you.

If you say so.

But just for the record, I've seen no evidence that you understand the debate.

Roughly translates as....I'm out of my depth and I wish I hadn't got involved?
