Wow, I didn't realize that people were listening to Wanda Jackson in the US - afaik she is all but unknown in Britain.
And thanks for all the information, Neapolitan; once again I'm very impressed by the extent of your knowledge.

^ Yes, you're right: the guitarists' dance clearly inspired The Shads. The poor pianist on the other hand plays his heart out but is pretty much obscured throughout by GV.

Saw Wanda Jackson again back in 2015.
I'll probably see her again in a few weeks.

Is it bad manners to mega-bump your own thread? Well, where else could I put The Chords, Sh-Boom ?

Going all the way back to 1944...

Harry "The Hipster" Gibson - Opus 12 Eee

The first time I saw this video, I couldn't help thinking that Harry "The Hipster" Gibson was a major influence on Jerry Lee Lewis back when he was getting started playing the piano.

1944 ?! Yep, sure looks like Jerry Lee Lewis got some of his stage act from Harry the Hipster.

I thought the mirror panel on the piano was good too: I'm surprised its use didn't become more widespread.
