I think its disrespectful because Robin himself has said that it was inspired by Got to Give It Up and him and Pharell were listening to the song to find inspiration. I think his team made a wack arguement by implying that the Marvin Gaye estate is trying to take ownership of a "era". I think Marvin's family is just trying to make a case for that specific song alone. The song CLEARLY sounds like Got To Give It Up.

Pharrell has been known to plagiarise in the past. Michael Jackson is not even credited for that song and they sampled DSTYGE.

I see similarities in these two songs but Robin Thicke is much more explixtive in this song than Marvin Gaye version. Trust me. In my opinion, this is Robin Thicke's not great song. I don't care for it much. I like Robin's older music.
