What was the last vinyl you bought?

See title.

I got 3 when I last went to Fopp, actually.

Boards of Canada - Tomorrow's Harvest
Gogol Bordello - Pura Vida Conspiracy (white, also including a 7'' and a CD)
Joanna Newsom - The Milk Eyed Mender

What about you?

Plankton 10-09-2013 01:49 PM

I haven't bought vinyl in decades. I think the last one I purchased was Black Sabbath - Mob Rules.

The last vinyl I got was probably An Autobiography by Old Gray, but that doesn't count because I ordered it back in February and it just got here this past month.

So actually bought recently?

The Wild - Dreams Are Maps
The Front Bottoms - The Front Bottoms
The Wonder Years - The Greatest Generation
The World Is A Beautiful Place and I am No Longer Afraid To Die - Whenever, If Ever.

On Saturday I was doing some dollar bin surfing and I came out with
Yes - Going for the One
Yes - Tormato
Modern Jazz Quintet - Patterns

I like 2/3 of these albums and took a chance on all of them, so it's a good haul.

Tormato has some good tracks, especially "On The Silent Wings of Freedom", but I wish there was some kind of Wakeman filtef for that album.

Waiting for this one to arrive in the mail...

Fantastic album cover art by Alan Forbes. I may have to frame this one and hang it on the wall in my music room (after I record it!)

Going for the One had its moments (several, actually), but I don't like the cheese they're serving. I though that Tormato had better moments (although it came with a plate of cheese as well) and more of them than Going for the One, tbh. Judging by your post and the fact that I got Going for the One because I've seen the cover in so many places, this probably isn't a popular opinion.

GFTO is a better album than Tormato IMO, Awaken is a particularly good track. Tormato has up moments, esp Silent Wings of Freedom, but Wakeman's tone sucks throughout and Circus of Heaven is Jon Anderson at his touchy-feely worst IMO.

Neither are as good as the albums between The Yes Album and Relayer (which is my favorite Yes album). I like Tales From Topographic Oceans although I admit it's padded. They had too much good stuff for 1 album, not enough for two, but the good outweighs the filler for me.

Wait, you plan on just ripping a vinyl to MP3... and then hanging it? That's it? Really?

Sequoioideae 10-12-2013 09:24 PM

For me? Well...

Psychic Ills "Radar Eyes (The Godz)
A longtime Psychic Ills fan, ever since I was in High School, they were a bit of an obsession. I may not like them as much after Mirror Eye (Wicked album!), but they still mean a lot to me.

The Holydrug Couple "Noctuary"
Heard this a few weeks ago via a post from a label on facebook, immediately fell in love with "It's Dawning" and bought the album via vinyl after intense listening via pirated copy.

Both artists are on the same label (Sacred Bones), hence why I got both of these at the same time.
