Completely agreed. If I wanted to get more into emo or pop-music-that-pretends-its-country, I know there are individuals 'round these parts I could turn to, and I'll take your recommendation to look for whistlelake's posts.

That being said, the fun thing about people having an irrational hatred is that its possible to overcome it with the right band...sometimes even just the right song. If people hate genres of music for specific reasons that there's no way to work around (not liking instrumental wankery, longer songs, harsher vocals, etc.), that's probably more of a challenge since those folks wouldn't have any patience for the music to begin with.

Beyonce. I feel she's taking the piss, that her heart and soul isn't in it, that she sings solely for fame and fortune, and I wonder why nobody else can see through it.

Reviving more 90's Professional 90's Rock/Faux Alternative nightmares for me I that I thought were lost forever...

Things got worse later in the decade with Creed and then Nu-Metal.

As you can tell I'm no fan of Post-Grunge, Professional Alternative Rock, or anything else you would like to call it (Alt AOR Crap would be fitting).

I wish you would throw away that match my friend
You could cut ties with all the lies That you've been living in
And if you do not want to see me again I would understand.

Best Creed lyrics ever

They had a lot of mainstream success during 93 to 96. The album Throwing Copper is an Alternative classic.

Always enjoy the story about Creed's signing. Alan Meltzer of Wind Up Records tried to make The Wrens sign a million dollar record deal on the condition that they made their sound more 'radio friendly', after they refused he apparently said something to the effect of 'the next band that walk through that door are gonna be superstars' and that band were Creed.
