My yellow lab, Orson, hates guitar more than anything. It doesn't matter if I lightly finger pick or strum a soothing chord; he runs away and hides his head under the bed.

My cat used to (seemingly) love psychedelic rock.

RIP my trippy little baby.

I'm pretty sure that pets have another way of hearing music, they are more sensitive for sure.
In my opinion, there are at least 2 parts when hearing music: the sound and the emotional level.

I noticed that my dog is very relaxed when I play the piano or recorder, but maybe it is because I too am while practicing, Csibi is adjusting to the (emotional) situations usually.
On the other hand, he doesn't seem to like the orchestra works and hides, though and gets a bit more lively when listening to Tame Impala. I figured out that he enjoys electronic music, especially chillstep.

In comparison the cockatiels are just very interested in sounds.
They like to whistle tunes when hearing the recorder, and I found out that they enjoy J-pop... I taught the male, Herculi, to sing the Toradora theme. I need to practice again with him!
To make them shut up, playing a Coldplay album to them will do the trick!

This has given me an idea for an experiment. Will report back soon.

My yorkie hates sound period. He barks at anything that makes too much noise. Probably because I use to hook my wireless speaker up, leave the room, and then blast the music through the room while he was sleep. He would jump up and start barking.
Amused me for quite a bit.
