Speaking of house music...

Here is an example of the worst kind of gimmick in all of music:

That song is technically Glitch Hop, but this type of distorted vocal effect happens most commonly in Deep House. I can't stand it. As soon as I see it is a Deep House upload, I know I will be skipping it.

The distant wailing guitar that was common in the background of 80s pop songs and the soundtracks of 80s movies.

''Hardcore'' is a punk genre people, why is that so hard to understand for many?

(Disclaimer, I'm not talking about hardcore hip hop or electronic music)

It started out as a punk subgenre, but it's moved so far away from punk at this point that I consider it to be its own seperate genre.

I think it still falls under the large spectrum of punk.
It just annoys me when people go ''This isn't metal!'' Yeah duh, it's not a Metal sub genre.

What's weird though is that there's no real different term from traditional hardcore punk and modern hardcore punk.
The only difference in name is that people usually refer to the latter as just ''hardcore'', but that's confusing as ****.
A lot of modern equivalents are very different from their traditional counterparts though.

Only in the sense that it's descended from it.

It grew out of Beatdown Hardcore/New York Hardcore and now sounds different, but I think it still fits Punk better than just being a separate rock genre altogether.
edit:
The Menzingers play pop punk but it doesn't sound like the Ramones, buzzcocks or early Undertones. Neither does Morning Glory.

Hardcore has interbred so much with metal since the late 80s that I feel like it is pretty far removed from punk at this point. And it's own subgenres, like grindcore and powerviolence, are really far removed from punk.

It did but that was called Metalcore for a reason. How are Grindcore and powerviolence not punk? What?
What's next, Crust Punk isn't punk? All have metal elements to them, but they're still punk genres.
Grindcore is both Punk and Metal though.
