Bands who should reunite

Every time I see that a group I like gets back together or releases new material after a crazy long hiatus, I think of all the bands I'd love to see do the same thing.

Wishful thinking? Sure. Still, I'd go bananas if Talking Heads or Husker Du decided to put aside their differences. What reunions would you freak out over?

Sansa Stark 05-02-2014 01:31 AM

The Smiths of course

hate paper doll 05-02-2014 01:34 AM

Oh fu*k yes. Definitely.

Frownland 05-02-2014 12:43 PM

The United States of America, I think they're all still alive. The original Peter Brötzmann Octet that performed on Machine Gun would be pretty incredible too. I was going to say Globe Unity Orchestra but it looks like they're playing some shows in Europe still.

Mondo Bungle 05-02-2014 05:05 PM

Mr. Bungle, Cop Shoot Cop, and Assuck.

How funny, I just listened to California on my way home from work. But yeah, a Mr. Bungle reunion would be awesome.

Necromancer 05-02-2014 05:52 PM

The upcoming album release, Redeemer Of Souls by Judas Priest is an interesting prospect.
If the rest of the album sounds like the single Redeemer of Souls, then.its absolutely awful, Cheap Throwback.
Maybe they could pull off another tour, we'll see.
Or maybe another band who shouldn't reunite.

GuD 05-02-2014 06:27 PM

Jawbreaker.

hate paper doll 05-02-2014 08:21 PM

Ween.

Paul Smeenus 05-02-2014 08:25 PM

Renaldo & The Loaf

Moss 05-03-2014 09:57 AM

Yeah, Husker Du would be near the top for me. Would have said Replacements but that is happening. I know they are getting up there but Zeppelin would still be cool. And the one that will never happen, Uncle Tupelo.

AlecRob 05-04-2014 08:48 PM

Nirvana, with a new singer.

JagarTharn 05-04-2014 09:00 PM

Not a band as such, but Ringo and Paul should do a whole album together.

LOL. What a ***got. You should read my review on the RHCP album, learn a bit about music before you make retarded posts please.

GuD 05-04-2014 09:22 PM

^seriously who's alt account is this?

On topic: The Ergs.

dca 05-05-2014 01:16 PM

if husker du reunited I couldn't see them performing any material pre new day rising, imagine 3 guys in their mid 50s doing bricklayer or indecision time

a new album might be cool but although I love me some husker du I never really liked any of bob mould's solo albums or grant hart's nova mob albums. sugar was awesome though. could be interesting, but it won't happen*

*or it might

Nah, it won't. There's too much bad blood between Bob and Grant. :(

dca 05-05-2014 01:34 PM

hah... I knew there was after the husker du split, but I wasn't sure if they ever patched it up.

Cicatrice 05-05-2014 01:36 PM

Grief needs to get back together. Then again I'd hate to see them get back together and release a bad album, so maybe not.

Moss 05-06-2014 12:01 AM

Supergrass would be way up on my list.

djchameleon 05-06-2014 06:42 AM

Yeah, I believe that bands break up for certain reasons and to force them to reunite for our own pleasures is pretty selfish.

Also I bet they would reunite and put out material that isn't up to our standards and then hate it lol.

I say let the bands stay broken up. It is for the best of everyone involved(band members and fans)

I mostly agree with this.

maybe a couple of exceptions... Steely Dan reunited after 20+ years and made a couple of really good albums ('Everything Must Go' in particular), and Sebadoh's reunion album from last year Defend Yourself was good as well....

James 05-06-2014 10:18 AM

Swans and Wire have had the most successful reunions I'd say.

music_phantom13 05-06-2014 12:57 PM

I'd love to see The Fugees all together, but it seems to be one of the things people always talk about that won't ever happen.

On a related note, not a reunion per se, but it would be nice if The Avalanches would finally just release their ****ing new record. It's had so many release dates it must be a record, I don't even get my hopes up for it anymore.

But on the plus side as mentioned I got lucky in that I'm seeing the reunited Swans again, Dinosaur Jr. got back together only a bit after I discovered them, and I saw Wu-Tang Clan with ODB hologram at Rock The Bells which isn't the same but still. Good stuff.

bob. 05-07-2014 12:09 PM

i think the hologram thing is just weird

i saw Wu Tang on the 8 Diagrams tour....and they payed tribute to ODB....which was very endearing

i'll second Jawbreaker....they were amazingly fun live....and although if it did happen i very much doubt that they would be playing the back rooms of Mexican restaurants....it would still be an absolute blast

it actual;ly almost happened a few years ago.....they "jammed" together while interviewing for a documentary about them.....Blake was quoted as saying "it felt good".....and then is simmered out :(

Two Spirit 05-07-2014 09:03 PM

I would love to see Guns N' Roses reunite, but Axl is too much of a dick to let that happen.

Indeed he is, It's not so much that he does not want it to happen on a deeper level, its just that he is a slave to his own ego and because he is a slave to his own ego he is unaware of just how bad his behaviour is around other people. The Irony is that of all the members of GnR he is probably the least successful, while the likes of Slash, Duff and Matt had Velvet Revolver, Axl has only ever know GnR.

Jade_City 05-29-2014 11:16 AM

I can't believe that no-one has even mentioned Outkast yet. :usehead: They need to revitalise the more alternative scene with a new album for sure

Psychedub Dude 05-30-2014 05:02 AM

Would be really cool to see Fugazi get back together, would love a chance to see them live.

Also +1 for the Fugees, that needs to happen.

I don't really know why but the Fugees really hate each other. Wyclef Jean even said "I feel the first issue that needs to be addressed is that Lauryn needs help... In my personal opinion, those Fugees reunion shows shouldn't have been done, because we wasn't ready. I really felt we shoulda first all gone into a room with Lauryn and a psychiatrist... But, you know, I do believe Lauryn can get help. And, once she does work things out, hopefully a proper and enduring Fugees reunion will happen." Can anyone tell me what Lauryn did? He makes her sound like some crazy bitch

Yes! Fugazi definitely ranks in my top 10 concert experiences, everyone should have the opportunity to see them live.

GuD 05-30-2014 06:51 PM

I would **** myself if I heard Fugazi were touring again. They never officially broke up, just been on... well, a 10 year hiatus. Ian's got a side project called The Evens that aren't bad and Guy if I'm not mistaken is working as a producer.

ladyislingering 05-31-2014 12:46 AM

this is inconceivable but I really wish ABBA would get back together and tour with at least 5 dates in the US.

With all the tour dates they are doing together they might be working on new material but I am not holding my breath that it will be any good.

I don't think you should hype yourself up. I have a feeling you will be sorely disappointed.

Oh ye of little faith. Anything they do together is amazing, since they're so talented. I just don't understand why they repel each other so much, it seems they really don't wanna work on a new album. Just seems like laziness in all honesty.

On Andre's part. He hasn't done much at all over the past 8 years, few features but still no sign of his solo album.

I think I would pay £100 for a new Outkast album. 14 years since their last studio album .

Hasn't been about 15 years cuz they released Idlewild in 2006 if I recall. But yeah Andre is lazy, wish someone would just lock em in a room. :banghead:

Ninetales 06-02-2014 10:44 AM

Not sure why you think its their obligation to make a new album..
