I'll vote for Janz's, I know we both like Tipper a lot and his track sounds a lot like a dark, brooding track Tipper would make. I love all the little details that are scattered throughout, and I think you nailed the theme better than anyone, so you get an A+ and a vote from me!

I'm gonna go with Frownlands. Location, location, location.

1. Frownland - 1
2. Plankton - 0
3. Janzsoon - 1
4. YorkeDaddy - 0

For the next theme, since it's the 2nd day of summer, "Sun"

So we are voting in this? If so, I'm voting Frowny too. His would fit right in on Sun Ra's Strange Strings and I love that album, so high praise indeed.

1. Frownland - 2
2. Plankton - 0
3. Janzsoon - 1
4. YorkeDaddy - 0

^Yes the players can vote, but not for their own tracks obviously. But I probably didn't have to tell you that.

I like the weird bent on YorkeDaddy's track a lot with the marimba sounds, but I like Janzsoon's track better because of the interesting textures it keeps on laying down. Plus it fits the theme quite well.

1. Frownland - 2
2. Plankton - 0
3. Janzsoon - 2
4. YorkeDaddy - 0

And you guys have until July 6 to submit your track for the "sun" theme.

Non-players can vote too, right? I'd like to place my vote for Plankton's. I know the word hollow also means empty, which isn't always a good thing, but it can also mean something positive. As in hollow = empty = release.

I got the feeling that the track was about someone who had to go through hell, made it out alive, and can now literally feel nothing else except relief. I felt that there was some sort of release or resolution going on in the track. Almost as if that person is now exhaling all the struggles/bad things he experienced down there - which is where the hollow/empty part comes in.

That's why I think his submission fits the theme perfectly. Kinda weird how I got to that conclusion, but there it is.

Also, that bass is hella funky.

Do we need a ruling on whether or not voters should have a certain number of posts? I know I've lost a few 'contests' from having people have their friends register on a forum just to pad their votes (which is not the case here... homey don't play dat).

Thanks Da Funk. I like how you picked up on all that. Much appreciated.

For the "Sun" theme:

Here's one done out of pure ****ing anger. I'm pissed about ****ing myself up on a god dam mini bike. It's about when the sun ****ing shines through the ****ing clouds during a ****ing hurricane.

Drum track was from yootoob, the rest was painfully done by me in 3 one takes (rhythm, then bass, and then lead).

For some reason my first thought when I saw "sun" was "apocalypse"

My submission:

Peaceful Thoughts as the Solar Flare Engulfs the Earth

Sounds good. Maybe it's the power of suggestion, but the song does capture what is described in it's title.
