Default Artist/Producer Dispute

An artist writes a full length album and records his vocals and original lyrics to online instrumentals. Then he contacts a producer who agrees to create original beats to his music. The Artist and Producer work together over several months building each track as the artist wants it. They release a full length album under the artist name claiming producer and put it up on several sites for free download. Youtube Soundcloud ect. A year later the producer wants to sell the instrumentals he created for the beats to try and make a profit off his hard work. The producer would like the artist to remove the tracks from online as there was no contract in place and no license agreement.
The producer already has buyers waiting to buy tracks. Is this legal, reasonable, Fair......thoughts....???????????
