Well worth seeing. I've seen him 7 times over 20+ years and he always puts on a great show. Every time I've seen him he stays after the show to chat with fans, pose for pictures, and sign autographs for anyone who wants one. A class act.

Going to see The Gregg Allman Band tonight. Haven't seen Gregg play his solo stuff since 1998 and it looks like I probably won't get to see The Allman Brothers Band this (their final) year, so this will have to suffice. Should be good!

A surprise in a good way I hope. Doors open in 5 minutes.

Will try on the setlist. But I'm a bit late to these guys as usual!

Heh. The one time I saw Dick Dale... was also at the Middle East. It was back in 97 or 98. Very good show.

Wow, Carla was fun to watch. Had no idea she was from Ethyl Meatplow and Geraldine Fibbers.

As far as Swans, someone posted a setlist that looks accurate to me:

Frankie M (new song?) - Very powerful way to start the show.
A little god in my hands
The Apostate
Just a little boy
Don't Go (new song?)
Bring the sun/Black hole man

Big differnce from the Guided by Voices show I saw where the setlist was about 50 songs!
Great show overall, incredibly powerful and intense and the new songs sounded amazing. Fun to watch Thor looking like a LA Woman era Jim Morrison with a huge beard playing trombone, chimes, oboe, electric violin, etc... Can't wait to hear your thoughts when you see them.

It's so soon!

Psy-Fi 09-04-2014 10:54 AM

Going to see my favorite Austin, TX band "Grupo Fantasma" playing as their alter ego "Brownout" playing as their alter ego "Brown Sabbath" playing Black Sabbath covers infused with some superb Latin psych/funk.

Should be a fun show!

2 from the new album: Just a little boy, a little god in my hands.

A friend of mine saw them during the Seer tour and they did 3 off to be kind. kind of funny. Always moving on to the next thing I guess.

bob. 09-04-2014 03:50 PM

yeah I was just listening to the album and noticed my mistake :)

well if we only get two....I'm hoping for She Loves Us! and Oxygen

but no matter what I'm sure I'm in for a wonderful evening

also really looking forward to seeing just what Carla Bozulich is doing these days....Ethyl Meatplow was such a great and underrated band and I saw her in a small art space a few years ago and the band was fantastic

also playing: Guantanom Baywatch and a band I've never heard of.

S'gonna be siiiiiiiiiiiiiiickkkkkkkkkkkk.

bob. 09-04-2014 08:33 PM

Together Pangea

GuD 09-05-2014 01:56 AM

oh lord it was so great

i was grumpy for some reason coming in.

i hafta admit.

Guantanamo Baywatch's bassist is totally hot. She's a totally great bassist too but DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMNNNN NNNNNNNNNNNNNN. And her boobs were just flying all over the damn place I was totally pervin'. Rock out wit yer tits out.

Anyways

Great show, stumbled to the bart station with my new friend Ernie talkin bout Amebix and His Hero Is Gone and also Burgerama which APPARENTLY WAS TOTALLY AWESOME BUT I COULDN'T MAKE IT =(.

On the train ride home, oh lordie.

Right so,

My knees are bleeding like all over the damn place. My elbows are ****ed up too. Somehow my glasses are only just a little crooked after catching an elbow with my face... and this prettyboy gets on. Oh my lord. I just wanted to cvm all over that pretty pretty pretty, smoothly shaven face. He was easily one of the most beautiful men I've ever seen. At first I was... Why do I wanna get with this guy? Mr.LookAtMeIWearD&GandHaveAnExpensiveHandbag. But damned if I don't admit it, he were purdy fine.

bob. 09-05-2014 06:38 AM

sounds like a purrrrfect night :)

John Mayall. Still touring at the ripe old age of 80! Haven't seen him since he was a young lad of 64, when he opened a show for Peter Green. It should be a good time!

Tonight I'll be soaking up some psychedelic space rock from Nik Turner with Witch Mountain and Hedersleben (who also double as Nik's backing band.) Saw him last year and couldn't pass up the opportunity to see him again.

It was a great show! More on the heavier side than the lighter side of the band. Tony Levin (as always) was a beast on the bass!

Tonight I'll be seeing The Eagles doing a benefit for The Walden Woods Project in an intimate (for The Eagles, anyway) 3,561 seat theatre.
