Default Petty slams EDM

Rock legend Tom Petty pulled no punches during a recent interview in regards to electronic dance music and one of its flagship events, Electric Daisy Carnival.
Petty slammed EDM while talking to USA Today, equating the music with drugs and death.
“Watch people play records? That’s stupid. You couldn’t pay me to go. I’m not oversimplifying it,” he seethed. “That’s what’s going on. I don’t think it would be any fun without the drugs. It’s a drug party.”
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee went on to single out Las Vegas’ annual Electric Daisy Carnival, which this year saw two attendees lose their lives from drug-related causes.

Who cares what a crusty old Dadrocker says about electronic music? He has the same views as most.

Yeah, irrelevant bitter old man trying to voice an unwarranted opinion about a matter he doesn't understand.
Quit being so petty, Tom.

Nice one. Irrelevant though? His last tour was a huge success. Still lots of Jurassic rockers. In comparison with how big an event EDC is though I'd agree.

I find it especially tragic that he's bemoaning the use of drugs at these shows. People were doing the exact same things 50 years ago at Rock shows. Nothing new.

Especially considering hes been a well known advocate for Mary Jane and was a huge coke addict in the 70's early 80's. Its not like anyone was ever on drugs at a Heartbreakers show.

I love Tom Petty, but he's wrong about this.
