47. Queensrÿche - The Warning (1984)

Personal favorite, but there's plenty of objective reasons for it to be on this list. Its one of the best heavy metal debuts of all time, plus it is a key recording to the start of the whole progressive metal genre. People generally think Operation: Mindcrime or Empire when it comes to this band, but Geoff Tate was at the top of his vocal form here, and the rest of the band ain't too shabby either. 'Take Hold Of The Flame', 'En Force', 'No Sanctuary' and the 9-minute 'Roads To Madness' are key numbers, but every song here is really strong.

Guys, we're messing up the numbers. The Warning should be 47, and The Greatest Generation should be 46.

As for Fugazi albums, I've not heard The Argument, but I prefer their 13 Songs compilation to Repeater. I might do an entry about it tomorrow.

13 Songs is classic also. I really think everyone should hear all three, and I look forward to your entry.

WRT what's a better introduction, my approach to new artists is always just listening to all of their stuff (or all of their more acclaimed stuff if they're very prolific) in chronological order, so I can't really talk.

I also prefer 13 songs, but it's not really like anything else they've made, I don't really consider it a post-hardcore album to be honest.

48. Fugazi - Red Medicine

i celebrate all of Fugazi's albums and probably hold them as one of my all time favorite bands....but there is really something special about Red Medicine...that in my opinion really stands out in their discography

on this album i think they really stepped away from the pigeon hole that they had been placed is....there's almost a psychedelic feel to this album....songs like Birthday Pony and Version certainly an experimental step out of typical hardcore/post hardcore vibes

the opening track...Do You Like Me....may be one of their catchiest songs to date and both Target and Forensic Scene are probably my favorite songs they ever recorded....and Long Distance Runner captures so pure emotion that only Ian could express
