Why do people blame Nirvana for killing Hair Metal?

I think KISS is an outrageously overrated band and I don't like Gene Simmons. It is interesting you think this way. In what ways do you feel Grunge bands were inspired by them? I don't see it.

By whom? Kids/twenty-somethings/probably-many-thirty-somethings today don't care about disco one way or another. They might know a few songs, and might even know who performed those songs, but it's too far back in time to be anything more than their parents'/grandparents' music. Hair metal is about a decade closer to them, easier to listen to ironically, and had that weird renaissance back in the early-mid '00s that put Motley Crue back in the charts for a year or so. People don't respect it, but they actually do talk about it.

I feel like a rebel when I listen to Smells like Team Spirit. F^&# you society! lol

I notice in the video the drummer is the leader singer of the Foo Fighters group. Am I seeing things? I could be wrong but it looks like a young version of him.

Can someone recommend a Nirvana album for someone who is just getting into their music?

I don't think their overrated from what I have heard so far. They are pretty entertaining stage performers too. Kurt Cobain is hott!

Sort of a farewell album before he died and is pretty awesome.

I think the vast majority of people who listen to disco-influenced artists probably have little to no idea that they're listening to something disco-influenced. All they know is that it has a beat. To people in the know, sure, disco isn't the critical dog that it once was, but in general, nobody cares.

And seriously, who are these people buying compilations? I didn't even know people did that anymore.

Club music is huge in Europe.
I know more fans of that than any other type of music.
