Well, I mean if we are to include everyone then she must get a chance. The standards are so high today as it is with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, what difference would it make?

I don't get the Disco argument. Disco was a fad or a trend (depending how you feel about it) that happen during the late 70s. There weren't many artists or bands that were strictly Disco for the sake of Disco. And some of the biggest names in Disco were cross overs from R&B and bands that were either from Rock or Funk camps that release Disco songs. Donna Summer even though she was dubbed Queen of Disco, really was artist that had many styles R&B, Pop, Gospel, etc. Gloria Gaynor felt that Disco ruined her career, because she was initially an R&B singer and she was pinned as a Disco artist and was passed over cause of that. Barry Gibbs vehemently denies that the Bee Gees were a Disco band. And a lot of musicians were critical of it because they took the rhythms found in Soul and Funk and made it straight 4/4 dance beat.

They had snubbed Donna Summer for years which is why they finally inducted her when she died. She was nominated multiple times (They had a reason to finally induct her with her passing) I think they waited off for Whitney because she recently became eligible. If that is your opinion of Disco that is fine but I consider it to be a real musical genre that had some of the best songwriters and singers |
