How can you tell the difference behind the intent? And if you've decided to sell it as music, isn't that a message in and of itself?

I must say though, that having a super liberal definition of music could easily lead me to tell the emperor how great his new clothes are.

Why even bring this up we weren't even talking about 4'33", we get it you don't think it's music, it just seems antagonistic of you.

I'm antagonistic? You're avatar is a dog trying to eat/attack his own tail.

F*ck off!

Fair enough, can we just not bring 4'33" right now, if that's possible.

I wouldn't blindly buy it, but I wouldn't dismiss it because of it's concept and give it a try. I think I actually do have several albums along the lines of trashcan-banging and top-of-the-lung-screaming, although to my knowledge no felines were involved.
You bought the latest Yoko Ono album

I tell the intent by listening enough. After a while, I make a decision on whether or not it is music by closing my eyes and flailing wildly on the keyboard. If my actions cause something terrible to happen to my computer, it isn't music.
