Aural experimentation.

Not music.

4'33 isn't music at all in my opinion. Round two obviously goes to John Cage though.

It doesn't fit my personal criteria of what music is. It obviously does fit your criteria.

It's a guy randomly putting together a bunch of noises. There's no notes, no melody, no harmony, no sense of time, no sense of rhythm, no sense of even the slightest structure whatsoever.

Maybe no harmony, but there is a melody, as in a series of notes, and it is incredibly structured, as was mentioned in the video. Also, listen to the tape recording in the background, there is quite clearly a sense of rhythm there, not to mention the timing of the other acts give in to a sense of rhythm as well.

It's not music. It's sound experimentation that could be incorporated into a larger musical work but cannot stand alone as music.
