The craziest song you know

It's hard to define crazy, so let's not even try it.
Crazy is not necessarily strange or avantgarde.
It's a feeling.
The song might be from any genre or no genre at all.
It might be crazy in a humorous or scary way, or both.
It might have just one crazy element (vocals, weird guitars...) or be made of 100% crazy.
But just one song. I know it's hard to choose.

I specialize in the weird stuff, so the one-song-rule is especially difficult for me, but I think I'll go with this one, although something much more crazy might pop into my head any time, making me regret this choice.

Tubular Bells. All 49:18 of it but especially the Piltdown Man section.

Pet_Sounds 10-17-2014 04:18 PM

Just one? Probably the Beatles' "Revolution 9". But some of the Wolves in Sheepskin stuff I've listened to lately gives it a run for its money.

Frownland 10-17-2014 04:22 PM

I think The Angry Angakok or Birth by The Residents is probably the craziest, it's hard to think of a single song.

One time me and a group of pals were listening to this and my military buddy who was on leave for long enough to smoke weed got really freaked out by this album. "Can I just listen to something ****ing normal Christophe?!" We told him it was Led Zeppelin and that just freaked him out more.

Predictable, i know
I know other songs that are crazier than this one but i like how Frank screams in this song.
He screams like a man in madness.

These 2 come to mind based on lyrical content..

Necro - 86 Measures of Game

MSI - Your Problem Now

That takes me back. My first Residents album.

Also great tactic for freaking people out. I'll have to try it sometime.:D

I was eleven or twelve years old. I visited a friend and her mother thought I was a smart kid and would appreciate some "The Thrill Is Gone" from "Malediction & Prayer".
I thought it was the stupidest thing ever.
Some years later, when I really got into Galas' music I thanked her.

Well this is one that comes to mind:

Frownland 10-18-2014 01:28 PM

Maybe this one?

Goofle 10-18-2014 01:31 PM

I mean what's all this about? Three genres all done completely separately for what reason I do not know.

Machine 10-18-2014 02:06 PM

Still think that the first two Swans albums are insane but if I had to choose a song from one it would be this.

I looked up the lyrics to it while I was listening, it's really disturbing...

bob. 10-19-2014 05:02 AM

weird....never in my mind would fear and Throbbing Gristle ever be in the same sentence....i think understanding the context and the feeling they meant to produce helps.....and LSD lots of LSD while listening to them

so i've been thinking about this....and for me at least it really boils down to...what really caught me of guard....and i really cannot think of anything better than Caroliner Rainbow

starting the night off drinking beers with these guys...not knowing they were in fact the band i was there to see....talking about why Alice Cooper is the true king of rock.....then being bombarded with this....wonderful :)

grindy 10-19-2014 05:10 AM

So glad I've opened this thread.
Found some new things through all your posts and remembered some already known, but forgotten ones as well.

Does anyone know David Moss' version of "Girl From Ipanema"?
It's not on youtube sadly.
It's insane as well as hilarious.

You saw Caroliner live?
I'm so jealous! It must be one of the most overwhelming concert experiences available to mankind.
I've been trying to find their DVD for some time now, but it seems impossible.

Well, I think we all already knew you were an inhuman sociopath.

bob. 10-19-2014 05:24 AM

yes :)

and what made it even better is i had no idea what i was in store for....and can honestly say that i felt genuine fear for a moment when they first started....it was truly sublime

edit

this was in response to seeing caroliner live

i personally do not think i'm a sociopath :)

I remember hearing Bastard for the first time and just being like whaaaaa?

kriswright 10-19-2014 06:38 PM

I don't think it gets crazier than "Don't Be So Holy Poly Over My Souly" by Kit Ream.

Though honorable mention to The Shaggs "My Pal Foot Foot" and Kim Fowley's "Is America Dead?". There's also a song called "The Van Man" by Bob Chance that has to be heard to be believed.

Sequoioideae 10-20-2014 10:37 PM

As far as insanity goes, no one out does Don. It's insanity in the highest degree, it's like watching a blues man have a bad trip while you bash your head against the wall phasing in and out of a nightmare. God, I love Beefheart.

GuD 10-20-2014 11:35 PM

WELL I BEEN SMOKIN ROCK KICKIN ASS AND TAKING LOTS OF PILLS
DRINKING BEER CUZ IM QUEER BOMBING LOTS OF HILLS
AND IM SO ****ED UP ON BEER AND WEED
MY STOMACH OVERFLOWS AND MY LUNGS ****ING BLEED

WHEN I LOOKED IN THE BAG THERE WAS NOTHING LEFT
THERE WAS BLOOD ON THE WALL AND BLOODY CIGARETTES
AND THE 40OZ IN MY HAND IS GETTING DRY
MAN PARTYING LIKE THIS IS LIKE WORKING FULL TIME

Reportedly cleared out a restaurant back in the day. I would like to think that "a" would be understating it!

Janszoon 11-12-2014 10:28 PM

Maybe this. Anything from this album really. What you are hearing is a group of talented horn players playing stringed instruments they don't know how to play, conducted by Sun Ra. I'm convinced that this is what the music of an ancient alien civilization would sound like.

This is fun. Wasn't even aware this album existed. Thanks!

Strange Strings is a fantastic album indeed. I think you introduced me to it a while back.
