Don't remember if I ever did a metal list, so here it is. This was absolutely impossible to do so I had to enact a strict policy of one album per band, and yet I still ended up with a safe as **** list. Who the **** has Def Leppard in their top 50 metal albums in 2017 srsly?

So you like Testament better than Cryptopsy, eh? I also figured you for more of a Peace Sells lover.

There's no order to the list other than what goes into the top 4, the second-tier, and other favorites. That is a pretty ****ing nice album though. I should hope it would be, seeing as Testament were basically a supergroup at the time. I consider those two albums too close to call.

And Peace Sells doesn't quite click with me like it does with a lot of other people. I'd take Rust in Peace and Killing Is My Business over it.

High five on the Megadeth and Overkill picks, but I really never thought Ace of Spades deserved its accolades. The entire album is filled with songs that sound 100% like several songs from the two albums just before it, all the while those albums had way more variation on top of that.
I'd go with those two over Ace of Spades any day of the week. Hell, I'd take Ironfist over it too even though half of it is discardable, just because it has I'm a Loser and America. I own all of those 3 albums, but not Ace of Spades.

Not a big Peace Sells fan either. Weakest of their 80's output by far... My fave being So Far So Good So What.

Cool beans.

None So Vile versus any Testament album would be None So Vile by a mile for me.

First blast beat* though bro.

It's got some filler on the B-side, but it was one of the first metal albums I ever bought, and one of the limited number of albums I had for probably the better part of a decade. So I know it way better than any other Motorhead record and there's a nostalgia factor. And "Ace of Spade", "The Hammer", "(We Are) The Road Crew", and "The Chase Is Better than the Catch" are all ****ing gnarly as ****.

I like Peace Sells fine, I just think it's a bit overrated.

I was actually just listening to The Gathering again and remembered my biggest complaint: Eric Peterson's style is too percussive and lacks the energy of when Skolnick was in the band. I don't even much like modern Testament, but at least Skolnick coming back to the band solved that problem. So yeah, None So Vile for me as well.

I'd say I like it too. It's just that I'd place almost all other Megadeth albums above it, but I like literally all of them to some extent so it doesn't really count as a huge criticism. I just feel like Peace Sells is sort of randomly put together, like they didn't quite have the song writing down yet. Devil's Island and My Last Words - the two most cohesive compositions on the album* - are my favorites off that disc.

*EDIT: oh, and the title track too.
