Some of his later 70's stuff is a tad punchier. Like Benson with a different vibe.

I'm more surprised to see none of Pat Metheny's work on a jazz list, but at least he didn't forget Hancock.

Even though he's solid, I'd say that Metheny doesn't really deserve a spot in the top 50 but Exo already has boring ass Coryell so what gives

And no European free jazz either what a ****in poseur. Props for Evolution though, great album. Out to Lunch is better because of Dolphy but Moncur's songwriting fits the rhythm section's style a lot better imo.

OK, if you say so I'll test run his albums again. But as it stands now, I would take Gabor Szabo out and put Emily Remler in his place.

As far as some of the European stuff goes, I love the Tomasz Stanko Quartet but maybe they aren't Top 50 material?

Poles aren't real Europeans when it comes to jazz.

I left Chuck Mangione off too. Go figure.

The two Coryell records I included are the only exceptions in the Coryell catalogue. I also just threw a list together without much thought because I was bored. It's not a definitive list.

I see Barefoot Boy, what's the second one? I only like his stuff with Eleventh House but that's more because of their rhythm section than Coryell's playing.

Oh. I guess I left it off after all. I considered putting Planet End on this list.

You'd get mad respect for a little Alpert.
